The Trump family goes on two-week vacation to Mar-a-Lago while his impeachment trial at Senate looms
President Donald Trump has left with his family for the holidays to their Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach on Friday and is excepted to vacation there for two weeks. Trump, First Lady Melania Trump Trump, their 13-year-old son Barron; and the president’s daughter from his first marriage, Ivanka Trump, were all seen departing for the family holiday, even as the president's impeachment hearing at the Senate hangs in a limbo.
According to the Daily Mail, the first family was seen heading toward Marine One on the South Lawn of the White House earlier on Friday, before they flew to Joint Base Andrews to honor a newly signed budget agreement. There, the first couple unveiled the new 'Space Force'. Clearly, the impeachment hearings have no real impact on the first family, or at least the commander-in-chief, considering he tweeted "Democrat hoax" after the House of Representatives impeached him in a landmark vote.
However, CNN has reported that his close aides are worried about the amount of time he is going to spend at Mar-A-Lago. Historically, Trump has publicly fumed about things that infuriate him while he is at the Florida property. After all, it was here that he "fumed about special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation, mocked Attorney General Jeff Sessions and suggested to friends that he was considering dismissing the Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats." We may very well see many an unpresidential tweet from Trump during his stay here this time around as well.
Meanwhile, American citizens who are concerned about the safety of the country are worried that Trump's visit might put the country at further risk. As one Twitter user worries out loud, "Trumps going to be at Mar A Lago for several weeks. What kind of state secrets will he give away? How much money will he gain from his wealthy friends for favors? #Impeached45". Another Twitteratti pointed out, "Upon his arrival, it will mark Trump's 326th day at a Trump-owned property at our expense."
