ROCKY MOUNT, NORTH CAROLINA: In a heartbreakingly tragic incident, two toddlers were left to shiver in the backseat of a freezing car while two dead bodies were discovered in the front seat of the car in a parking lot. Authorities rushed to the crime scene in Rocky Mount, North Carolina on Thursday, December 1, and were appalled by the shocking sight.  

Law enforcement identified the victims as 24-year-old Destiny Wiggins, the alleged mother of the two toddlers who were found alive in the backseat of the car, and 28-year-old Devone Brown. The two victims reportedly died after suffering from gunshot wounds, said the police as per Fox 8. Authorities have launched a criminal investigation and are treating the case as a homicide.

Who was Destiny Wiggins?

Destiny Wiggins, 24, a North Carolina woman, and a mother to four children was found dead in the front side of a car in the frigid temperatures. Alongside her was another fatally shot victim named Devone Brown, reported the news outlet. The two children were reportedly left to freeze in the car for hours before the bodies of Wiggins and Brown were found, according to The Sun. Rocky Mount Police Chief Robert Hassell confirmed their identities during a press conference in the afternoon of the same day.

He said cops scrambled to the scene shortly after 6 am when workers in the area noticed the bodies in the car. The two children found in the back were of "toddler age" and were rushed to UNC Nash Healthcare for treatment due to being exposed to cold weather all night. The kids remain in the hospital with family and are both "doing well," 11Eyewitness ABC reported. While Wiggins and Brown were shot dead. Chief Hassell spoke of the victims and added, "Please keep the family members in your prayers."

Wiggins’ mother started a GoFundMe to help with the costs of burying her daughter. "I am Donna Wiggins, mother of Destiny Wiggins (AKA Queen). I am asking for all family, friends, loved ones and anyone who can to donate to help us to bury my daughter," the fundraiser read. "She is a mother of 4 who was murdered today. We thank you for all of your help. God bless a of you." A friend of Brown's remembered him as "like a brother, and uncle to my kids," reported 11Eyewitness ABC and added it was never a dull moment around him and he knew how to "keep a smile on our face." The sheriff probing the case said, "It's still too soon to tell." Hassell said. "It's an unfolding investigation, it's still active at this time."
