Christianity Today doubles down on attacks on Trump, compares him to a physically abusive husband: 'He needs to leave the house'

Galli said that white evangelists have supported Trump as he has been good to the cause close to their hearts, but has called on them to abandon him as he has become "profoundly immoral"

President Donald Trump does not find himself short of critics, and Mark Galli, the editor-in-chief of a major evangelical magazine, 'Christianity Today' is increasingly proving to be one among them. Galli, who appeared on NPR's 'Morning Edition' on Friday morning reiterated his previous stance on wanting Trump's removal and even went on to compare him to a physically abusive husband. He may be a "good provider" but he "needs to leave the house," said Galli.

Defending his fellow white evangelists who have consistently supported Trump, Galli said that they are more concerned about issues such as pro-life and religious freedom, which sees the president and them on the same team.

"To be the most charitable to my brothers and sisters, I do think they are passionately concerned about pro-life issues. I am as well deeply concerned about pro-life issues. They are passionately concerned about religious freedom issues. I am as well. So, I will give them that in the sense that Trump has done a very good job of defending those causes in our minds," he said.  However, they too seem to understand that these two issues are not enough to continue supporting Trump, you can hear Galli say in the episode that has been shared by Breitbart

He further elaborated, "It’s like a wife who has a husband who’s verbally abusive, but he’s still a good provider, still a good father to his children. She might put up with that. On the one hand, you’ve got a bad temper, on the other hand, he’s a great dad and a good provider. When that husband begins to physically abuse, becomes physically dangerous, that doesn’t balance the scale anymore, and now the real issue is should this man be in the house or not?"

Trump needs to get out of the house, insisted Galli, who has used his platform as the editor-in-chief to call on evangelical Christians, who still support the president who was recently impeached for abuse of power, to get away from him.

He had written in his editorial, "The facts in this instance are unambiguous: The president of the United States attempted to use his political power to coerce a foreign leader to harass and discredit one of the president’s political opponents. That is not only a violation of the Constitution; more importantly, it is profoundly immoral."
