BET 2022 Winners Full List: Zendaya and Will Smith bag acting trophies, Megan Thee Stallion scores big

'King Richard' won the Best Movie Award while The Weeknd garnered Best Male R&B/Pop Artist Award

Sunday night, June 26, just got interesting as BET 2022 is underway. While the event is all about honoring musicians, talents, and their hard-earned recognition, some celebrities like host Taraji P Henson and best female R&B/pop artist winner Jazmine Sullivan couldn't help but mention the controversial overruling of Roe v Wade by the Supreme Court. Henson said in her monologue, "Guns have more rights than a woman. It’s a sad day in America. A weapon that can take lives has more power than woman who can give life, if she chooses to."

Speaking of awards, Doja Cat left no stone unturned as got herself a total of 6 nominations, including best female R&B/pop artist best female hip-hop artist, video of the year, and more. Sean "Diddy" Combs will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Mary J Blige, who got received the same three years ago, won the BET Her award for 'Good Morning Gorgeous.' The awards, which are determined to honor 'creative expression and Black excellence across music, television, film and sport' airing live from Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
