'Zoey 101' Reunion: TikTokers JoJo Siwa and Dixie D’Amelio to star in song, fans say 'stop ruining our childhood'

With the upcoming reboot of the show, fans aren’t exactly happy at the choice of the added cast, especially with the addition of a bunch of social media stars to the theme song

2000s classic 'Zoey 101' is heading back to Pacific Coast Academy, but the fans aren’t exactly happy at the show’s decision to include a bunch of TikTok stars and Youtubers in it. 
The much-loved Nickelodeon series, starring Jamie Lynn Spears, 'Zoey 101' got a virtual reunion with the cast members Sean Flynn, Erin Sanders, Matthew Underwood and Chris Massey doing a livestream on October 25. The cast got together to launch a remix version of the theme song called ‘Follow Me (Zoey 101)’. Jamie gave the theme song a musical makeover. collaborating with her sister, Britney Spears, who served as a co-writer and Chantel, a popular producer and DJ. However, this time the theme song also featured popular YouTubers and TikTokers like Dixie D’Amelio, Noah Beck, Loren Gray, GiGi Gorgeous and JoJo Siwa. 

Jamie had explained to Nylon, that the group's previous year's appearance was a means of “testing the waters" when it came to a reboot. “Obviously we want to meet her as an adult now, and I do think it should be a show for young adults,” she said. However, with the probable upcoming reboot of the show, fans aren’t exactly happy at the choice of the added cast, especially with the addition of a bunch of social media stars to the theme song. A fan took to Twitter to write, “Mood because zoey 101 was life for those late 90s and early 2000s babies and not the current tiktok generation. stop ruining my childhood and the legacy with whack reboots if it’s not the ORIGINAL cast. Thanks.”

Another wrote, “I cant believe they are trying to disgrace zoey 101’s legacy with that reboot.” A disappointed fan said, "I still stand with my comment on them being talentless music video or show if it has the tik tokers in it, it’s gonna be trash." And another viewer speculated, ‘From what I’ve seen the cast of Z101 wants to come back but Investors don’t think people want it & they’re using tik tok stars in an event to try to get Gen Z into zoey 101 and help support a potential sequel with the OG cast from what I can tell.”

Another wrote, “The little kid from zoey 101 stays on tiktok just talking about the show like it’s his only personality trait and bc of that I can’t even look at the show the same so icarly”

While some are unhappy with the reboot casts, others are also hyped at the possibility of experiencing the nostalgia all over again. A fan wrote, “Zoey 101 remake whaaat?? Bringing me back to childhood. Time moves so fast maaan." Another wrote, “PLEASE ZOEY 101 IN A HEARTBEAT THAT SHOW WAS MY SHIT EVERYTIME I HEAR ARE YOU READY I SING THE ENTIRE THEME SONG." “Zoey 101 imagineeeee going to high school without parents”

'Zoey 101', the teen comedy-drama was created by Dan Schneider and originally aired on Nickelodeon for four seasons from January 9, 2005, until May 2, 2008. The show became one of the highest-rated shows of Nickelodeon as it went to claim multiple awards including two Kids' Choice Awards and a Neox Fan Award.
