When a 14-year-old street-brawling delinquent performs an uncharacteristically altruistic act that kills him, he finds that the Underworld is so taken aback that it doesn't quite know whether to put him in Heaven or Hell – so they send him back to Earth as an Underworld Detective instead. Yusuke Urameshi is about to discover the strange world of the supernatural that lives up in the Human World, and the beloved manga and anime series is now about to get its own live-action series, only on Netflix.

Plot

Yusuke Urameshi is a teenage street brawler, whose life ends when he saves a stranger from being hit by a car. Unfortunately, this act kills him, but down in the Underworld, they have no idea what to do with him. Botan, a woman who ferries souls down the River Styx, tells Yusuke that his last-minute altruistic act means that there's neither a place for him in Heaven or Hell - so she sends him back up to the Human World to face a series of trials as an Underworld Detective. Yusuke now wanders the Human World investigating supernatural occurrences on behalf of Koenma, a prince of the Underworld. Together with his friends Keiko Yukimura and Kazuma Kuwabara, Yusuke is set to redeem his soul - one case at a time.

The original manga was created by Yoshihiro Togashi in 1990, serialized across 175 chapters. The manga was adapted into a beloved anime series, as well as original video animations, audio CDs and several video games. This series will be the first live-action version.
