Youtube shooting sparks reaction from prominent figures for gun law reform

A woman opened fire at YouTube headquarters in San Bruno, California, on Tuesday, in a shooting that left four people injured before she turned the gun on herself, police say.

Four people were gravely injured after a female shooter opened fire at Youtube's headquarters on Tuesday, before killing herself, according to law enforcement authorities in San Bruno, California.

Youtube employees claimed that they could see "blood drips on the floor and stairs" and had reportedly mistaken the stampede of people running out of the building for an "earthquake". Multiple patients had to be hospitalized following the shooting.

President Donald Trump thanked law enforcement officials and first responders to the scene. He said that he was briefed on the situation as soon as it ensued and noted: "Our thoughts and prayers are with everybody involved."



Politicians, lawmakers and prominent figures on social media have reacted to the tragedy. Here are some of their reactions:

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi tweeted.



The twitter account for March For Our Lives, the gun reform movement created by the survivors of the Parkland, Florida, high school shooting wrote: "No one should have to fear for their lives in our free nation. No one should have to send a last 'I love you' text before returning to their hiding spot while an active shooter terrorizes their community."



Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple tweeted that his employees have sent their "sympathy and support to the team at YouTube and Google, especially the victims and their families."



"All of us at Twitter are horrified by the shooting today at @YouTube HQ. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with our friends and colleagues in San Bruno," Twitter wrote.

This latest incident of gun violence in a high-profile vicinity fanned the flames of the gun control movement. Many stars who had made a name for themselves on the video platform voiced their call for change in a series of social media posts.
