The premiere episode of 'Young Sheldon' season 3 had fans getting emotional over the beautiful bond Mary and her son Sheldon share.

Remember Sheldon Cooper’s iconic line “I’m not crazy, my mother had me tested’, on ‘The Big Bang Theory’? Well, the premiere episode doesn’t show Sheldon’s mother Mary (Zoe Perry) getting him tested for “crazy”, but she does begin to suspect that her son might be at risk of being “crazy”, and the duo end up seeking help for their mental health after some funny mixup and misunderstanding.

In case you’re wondering how the mother-son duo landed up at the door of a therapist seeking help, then we have meemaw’s boyfriend Dr. John Sturgis (Wallace Shawn) to thank. The previous season ended with John being sent to psychiatric care after he started behaving strangely.

This raises concerns in Mary’s mind about Sheldon’s well-being. Considering both Sheldon and John are gifted, she begins worrying that Sheldon might be going down the same path and tries to address the situation by reading books on mental health and trying to talk to him about his mental health. Sheldon misunderstands Mary’s concerns for his health as her having mental health issues. Both begin getting anxious about each other’s mental health, which of course meant we got a couple of laughs at the confusion. Finally, they go to see a therapist to hash out their differences and determine who is the “crazy” one.

It was interesting to see the usually patient Mary snap at Sheldon. She raises her voice at him and even expresses a desire to wash his mouth with soap, while Sheldon on his part takes some digs at his mother’s concern for him.  Finally, the two air out their differences at the therapist’s office and hug it out.

The scene with both clearing up their differences had fans choking up. It was a very beautiful and raw moment when both show their vulnerable side and express their love for each other. Mary tells Sheldon where her anxiety about him is stemming from and Sheldon apologizes to her for causing so much trouble to her. Fans loved the scene a lot and expressed the same on twitter. A fan tweeted, “The last scene with Sheldon and Mary made me super emotional. Hit right in the feels. Great job @IainLoveTheatre @zoejperry @YoungSheldo  #YoungSheldon”. Another fan shared, “I’m enjoy watching the 3rd season premiere of #YoungSheldon tonight. I’m happy my fave show is back. Great episode, especially when Mary and Sheldon hugging each other!” “I love it when Sheldon and Mary made up hugging each other. Precious mother-son moment! #YoungSheldon”, wrote a fan who enjoyed the beautiful scene.
