11-yr-old girl on her period bleeds through her clothes in class after school staff deny access to bathroom
A schoolgirl who was on her period bled through her clothes twice after the school staff refused to let her go to the toilet. The 11-year-old's mother was in total shock when her daughter returned home from Cotham School in Bristol with bloodstains on her clothes.
The young girl's mother, who wants to protect her daughter's identity, did not give out her name but revealed that her daughter said she no longer wanted to go to school during her periods after she was left feeling "humiliated". After the girl's mother complained to the school's authorities repeatedly, the young girl was issued a toilet pass by her teachers, according to Daily Mail.
"They should not be making young girls feel guilty because she needs to go to the bathroom and sort out her basic care," she told Bristol Live. "Now, she’s scared to go to school in case they won’t let her out of the classroom, that’s not what we should be teaching girls."
