'You' Season 4 Episode 2: 'EAT THE RICH' killer causes trouble in Joe's group of friends, making things go upside down
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: So, the premiere of ‘YOU’ Season 4 has once again proved why the Netflix series is one of the most engaging shows of this generation. The first episode saw Jonathan Moore, aka Joe (Penn Badgley), leading a peaceful life in London and teaching English Literature to young students at a university. However, things turned upside down quickly when he got to meet the affluent people of London and had a pretty wild night. The night ended with Joe reaching his apartment with no idea of what happened. But he got an idea when he saw a dead body on his dining table. What is worse? He is being stalked now and knows about the dead body as well.
Joe’s journey continues as his new friends call him for a dinner and it doesn’t look like they are sad that one of their friends has been missing for a while now. Joe believes that it’s someone inside the group who has done this and is trying to frame him. As soon as he reaches home, he gets an invitation to Simon’s art event and it’s Phoebe (Tilly Keeper) who has invited him there. But he still has an entire day to figure out how he needs to find the killer and he takes the help of Agatha Christie’s books. One of his students, Nadia (Amy Leigh Hickman), sees him with all these books and asks him if he is solving a crime, to which, he replies that he is trying to write a fiction book, but he is not much of a fan of whodunits. Nadia tells him that it is one of the best genres in the world of fiction and that there are some things that he should concentrate on while writing a crime thriller. First, there are no coincidences and secondly, all motives always boil down to sex, money, or revenge. But if it’s all about one single murder, then he should care about framing and if done well, nothing beats that.

Will Joe return in doing what he does best?
On the other hand, he keeps on getting messages from an unknown person who is trying to get under his skin. So, what should he do to know more about the motives for killing Malcolm? Yes, you guessed it right. He barged into Malcolm’s home and started to find something that could help him. While doing so, he finds a diary in which he has written how much money he owes to several people. So, that can be one of the motives. His work is done and he gets out of the house but is shocked to see Nadia in the same corridor. She asks if she was breaking in, to which, Joe says that Malcolm’s girlfriend wanted him to get Malcolm’s wallet. She makes him realize that while writing a mystery novel, Jonathan should move forward with things he’s strong and that’s when Joe makes a decision of doing what he does best: observe and stalk.
He stalks every member of the Sundry house and makes deductions, but is surprised to see how ugly their lives really are. Now, it’s time for him to head to Simon’s art event. Everything was going fine till the time a young girl with a box of red paint ruins Simon’s painting saying that the “cat” painting was her design and he just robbed her. Simon says thank you and tells Kate to find the girl and if she doesn’t, he will ruin everything for everyone. Joe helps Kate in finding that girl and it turns out that Simon did betray her. However, the most interesting part of the conversation was when the girl revealed that Malcolm knew about it and wanted to expose Simon, but he never did.
But no one knew that the night was going to get even worse. Simon was taking a break from the event and was in a room. The ‘EAT THE RICH’ killer murders him and takes one of his ears as a trophy. The killer messages Joe and lets him know that he missed the best part of the night. The police arrive at the event and everyone gets to know that a second person on the ground has been killed.
Does the killer know about Jonathan's true identity?
The episode concludes with Joe reaching his house and finding the shock of a lifetime. All the articles featuring his victims have been pinned to the wall and he receives a message saying “Hello Joe.” So, the killer knows about Joe’s real identity and Joe has no idea about who the hell is that person.
‘EAT THE RICH’ killer is at large and he won’t stop till Joe doesn’t do what he wants him to.
