'You' Season 3: Release date, spoilers and all about Netflix psychological thriller
'You' is back for another mind-bending season with Joe and Love trying to work on their marriage
‘You’ has been one of the most popular shows on Netflix and it comes in as no surprise that the streaming giant has renewed the series for another season. The psychological thriller series is set to come out with Season 3 and it’s going to be more intense than the previous editions.
The first season of ‘You’ originally aired on Lifetime in 2018 and Netflix acquired the international rights for the show. However, Lifetime passed on the second season and the series moved to Netflix as a global Netflix original series. Since then, the show has seen a massive fan-following across the globe, with people calling it one of the finest thriller series in recent times.
The show is one of the many shows that enjoyed a lot of success after getting acquired by Netflix. Shows like ‘Money Heist’ and ‘Lucifer’ got universal acclaim after the streaming giant swooped in and saved them from getting canceled.
With Season 3 of ‘You’, the streaming giant will be hoping to get big numbers of viewership in the first 28 days of its release. Here’s everything we know about ‘You’ Season 3.
Release date and how to watch
The third season of ‘You’ will be premiering exclusively on Netflix on Friday, October 15. According to the Netflix press site, the show will be available for streaming at 3:01 am EST. The first two seasons are currently streaming on the streaming platform and viewers can subscribe to Netflix in order to watch them.
“In Season 3, Joe and Love, now married and raising their baby, have moved to the balmy Northern California enclave of Madre Linda, where they’re surrounded by privileged tech entrepreneurs, judgmental mommy bloggers, and Insta-famous biohackers. Joe is committed to his new role as a husband and dad but fears Love’s lethal impulsiveness. And then there’s his heart. Could the woman he’s been searching for all this time live right next door? Breaking out of a cage in a basement is one thing. But, the prison of a picture-perfect marriage to a woman who’s wise to your tricks? Well, that’ll prove a much more complicated escape.”
Season 2 ended with Joe coming close to believing what a horrible person he is and came close to understanding what Candace meant when she said she would show him his true face. However, the moment he gets to know that Delilah’s death was not his fault, he goes back to his old beliefs. But he receives the shock of a lifetime when he got to know that Love is not what he and everyone thinks she is.
Love turned out to be completely different and somewhat just like Joe. He soon discovers that she is not the love of his life and is only staying with her because of their child. He doesn’t want his child to have a bad childhood, just like he did. Joe is ready to find someone else and this time, it is his neighbor.
It’ll be interesting to see how he runs his relationship with Love in Season 3. Also, will Love badly treat their child? Or motherhood will change her forever?
All the original cast members will be returning for Season 3. Penn Badgely will be reprising the role of a psychotic man named Joe Goldberg while Victoria Pedretti will be returning to portray the character of Love Quinn-Goldberg. Meanwhile, Saffron Burrows has been upgraded to a series regular and will come back to play Dottie Quinn.
Meanwhile, Michaela McManus is one of the new cast members to enter the show and will be playing the role of Natalie Engler, Joe's next-door neighbor and new subject of obsession. Other members to feature on the show are Shalita Grant (Sherry Conrad), Travis Van Winkle (Cary Conrad), Tati Gabrielle (Marienne), and Dylan Arnold (Theo Engler).
Based on the novel ‘Hidden Bodies’ written by Caroline Kenes, the show has been developed by Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble. The show is being produced by Ryan Lindenberg, Adria Long, Jason Sokoloff, Jennifer Lence, and Wayne Carmona.
Meanwhile, Gamble, Marcos Siega, Gina Girolamo, Les Morgenstein, Sarah Schechter, Greg Berlanti, Lee Toland, Krieger, Silver Tree, Michael Foley, and Azalea Brooke serve as executive producers.
The trailer is creepy and is running on an eerie rendition of Britney Spears’ iconic hit ‘Baby One More Time’. The clip is full of action and fans will be expecting a lot of mind-bending plot twists as well. As the two also agree to go to couple's therapy to save their marriage, it looks like fans are in for plenty more secrets as the show continues.
