NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Late-night host Seth Meyers recently took a jab at former President Donald Trump, mocking him after the judge in his case rejected the mistrial motion.

The presiding judge in New York state overseeing Trump's $250 million civil fraud case dismissed his request for a mistrial on Friday, November 17, deeming the former president's arguments as "utterly without merit."

In a concise and forthright ruling, Judge Arthur Engoron declined to even entertain arguments on the mistrial motion, stating that the motion's premises were defective and entertaining them would be "futile."

The judge reportedly characterized Trump's justification for seeking to halt the trial, which is now in its second month, as "disingenuous," made in "bad faith," and "nonsensical," per NBC News.

The legal team representing Trump submitted a motion for a mistrial, alleging that Judge Engoron and his law clerk had shown bias against the former president.

They further claimed that the clerk, who is seated next to the judge in the courtroom, had inappropriately assumed the role of a "co-judge" in the proceedings.

The political satirist from the late-night show mocked Trump saying, "You can't claim bias literally every time."

Seth Meyers said in his show, "Trump is so mad about this case that he filed a truly ridiculous motion for a mistrial, claiming the judge and the clerk were biased against him, but the judge quickly shot it down."

The host quickly cut into a news interview where the person said, "There isn't a lot of proof that the conversations between the judge and his law clerk are, in fact, emblematic of bias. Just because you lose repeatedly in front of a judge doesn't mean that judge is biased."

"Trump can't get that simple fact through his brain," said Meyers. "Maybe you could claim bias once or twice, but you can't claim bias literally every time you ever lose anything, anywhere, especially when you make crazy requests that any judge would rule against."

The host then illustrated an instance when Trump was testifying on the stand.

"Hours into his testimony, Trump attempted to read from an enigmatic piece of paper that he pulled out from his pocket, asserting that it would 'establish his innocence,'" Meyers said. "Here's the deal, man. If it never happened on an episode of 'Law & Order', you can't do it."

Trump is like a 'kid who plays video games'

Meyers further said, "So Trump just claims anytime he loses anything, it's because everyone is biased against him."

"He's like the kid you played video games with in middle school who would insist the only reason you beat him at FIFA was because his controller was broken, and keeps saying it, even though you've given him like 20 different controllers."

The host then mimicked Trump’s voice, saying, "All these controllers, they're biased against me. The buttons. The buttons are too small for my giant thumbs."

"I went to GameStop and a guy came up to me, big guy, bearded guy, tears pouring down his face onto his Fortnite T-shirt. And he said to me, he said, 'Sir, I'm sorry, Xbox is biased against you.'"

"That's why now I get all my games from the pro-Trump gaming console XFox."

Trump allegedly argued clerk was 'biased'

The host then pointed out that Trump specifically contended that the clerk was prejudiced against him and was allegedly conspiring with the judge.

"That's obviously insane. If Trump thinks the judge has some secret plan to have his clerk co-judge, the clerk probably wouldn't sit right next to him," stated Meyers.

He hilariously enacted how such a conversation would go, in a stage-whisper, "Now, remember, we're secretly going to conspire with each other to deny the defendant his rights, but everything has to be very hush hush."

"'Understood. Where should I sit?'; 'I think right next to me. To make the whispering easier. I mean, let's not make this harder than we have to.'"
