Episode 4 sees John receive a call from the Sheriff's office from Summer. The activist is in prison and needs him to come to help her out as this time she's in deep trouble. On arriving at the station John is informed by the interim Sheriff that she is facing up to 30 years in prison for assaulting 2 police officers along with other crimes she's being charged for. When he has a conversation with Summer, she gets angry and says she never should've listened to Beth. On finding out this was Beth's doing, he promises to get her out of this mess.

At night John calls his daughter to the dinner table for a confrontation which sees him pissed at her. He tells her that she used Summer and now because of her she's in serious trouble to which Beth replies, "That's life in the Serengeti". But John's not having any of this and says she's not the enemy. Beth says she only cares about him, Rip, and Casey (Luke Grimes) but her father says that this is his kingdom, and he'll fight with dignity with no more collateral damage. Without mincing his words John says, "What you did was cruel and you've disappointed me". He continues saying he's never expected he'd say that to Beth and the daughter who's quite obviously hurt says she also didn't expect him to. John doesn't hold back and tells her that this is his fight and it's best that he fight it alone and that she should go elsewhere while he does so. When Beth replies that this is her home, her father curtly says that it might be time to find another one and we know that this struck her the hardest.

We later see Beth go up to the bunkhouse and ask Walker (Ryan Bingham) to play her a sad song as she needs a song to cry to. As Walker croons his tunes in the barn Beth breaks down sobbing with cries coming from her chest and we know that a crack has appeared in her relationship with her father. She may have done what she did out of loyalty to him but her method wasn't appreciated as John makes it very clear.

‘Yellowstone’ Season 4 returns to Paramount with a new episode every Sunday at 8 pm EST.
