'Yellowstone' Season 3 Episode 9: How did John Dutton get his stolen belonging back from Wade Morrow?
Spoilers for 'Yellowstone' Season 3 Episode 9 titled 'Meaner than Evil'
When John Dutton (Kevin Costner) commands that someone should be taken to the train station, no one disagrees with him – his bidding is done without any queries or qualms.
On the Paramount show, the train station is that place from where no one returns. On the way to Wyoming, there is a vast expanse of a 100 miles where no one lives, the district has no jurisdiction and the dead bodies fall right off the cliff without giving any trouble. It is the one foolproof method that the Duttons can use to confirm their secrets remain secrets and are never revealed to anyone.
But when John Dutton asks Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) to ensure that this one enemy of his is taken to the train station, it is actually for revenge.
In the last few episodes, Wade Morrow (Boots Southerland) had been getting on John's nerves. From wandering into his territory, threatening his men, running into him at the diner, and being an overall pest, Wade Morrow was relentless in his pursuit of John. Most of these were bearable until he attacks John's own – Teeter (Jen Landon) and Colby (Denim Richards).
In the previous episode, Wade and his son had initiated a brutal attack on the two which even left deep gashes on Teeter's face and her mind in shock. John is not one to back down and then orders Rip that Wade and his son be taken to the train station.
And so begins a wide hunt for the two. The idea is to use Walker (Ryan Bingham) as bait and lure the two to attack him, a man of the Dutton ranch. Because Wade is not a smart man, he falls for this and follows Walker. Then emerge all the ranchers from the Dutton ranch and hunt the two down. Lloyd Pierce (Forrie J. Smith) follows Wade's son Clint Morrow (Brent Walker) and Rip, and the rest follow Wade. Clint has a fall hitting his head on a rock and dying on the spot. Lloyd notes how easy he got off since the crimes they committed should have warranted more damage. When Rip gets hold of Wade, he ties him to a tree and demands to know the name of the person who hired them to get here and do this. Then he instructs Walker to take back John's belonging from Wade – the brand. Walker ends up skinning the brand off of his chest. Following this, Colby hangs him by that tree.
Later in the night, after Teeter, Colby and Ryan (Ian Bohen) have paid the price for this revenge, Lloyd and Walker make a visit to the train station with their dead bodies. The whole scene induces nervousness as Walker also runs the risk of being disposed of by Lloyd. But today's not his day – it is Wade and his son's.
'Yellowstone' airs on Sundays at 9 PM ET /PT on Paramount Network.
