Spoilers for 'Yellowstone' Season 3 Episode 7 'The Beating'

John Dutton's enemies never rest. They keep coming at him and his family to destroy him - either for greed or for revenge. This week, television's most popular cowboy played by Kevin Costner comes face-to-face with yet another long lost enemy. When we first met Wade Morrow (Boots Southerland), he and his son Clint (Brent Walker) are walking buffaloes on the land adjacent to the Dutton ranch. They immediately get into an argument with Rip (Cole Hauser) who warns them to keep their distance. At the time, Wade tells Rip to pass a message to John basically telling him that Wade is back in town.

The next time we meet him in the previous episode, Wade is confronted by John with Kayce (Luke Grimes), Rip and the rest of the cowboys in tow. When asked what he is doing back here, Wade says he is babysitting the buffaloes for the resort which is charging people $600 to come out to the field and have pictures taken with the animals. When Kayce verifies if the buffaloes are treated, they say they are. He then warns the Morrows that if they don't keep the buffalo on their side of the fence, he will do it his way and that won't be appreciated. John had earlier described Wade as a horse trader who is "half a criminal".

It is in the latest episode that we know a little bit more about them. It looks like, several years ago, John had Wade arrested over a crime and he eventually left the state. He tells Wade that he knows it is no coincidence that Wade is working on a plot of land right next to his - that there are ulterior motives that are into play when it comes to his sudden reappearance in Montana. John recalls how he gave him a job several years ago and "you [Wade] stole the one thing a cowboy doesn't steal". When their intense conversation in the cafe ends, John tells him, "You have something that belongs to me." Wade challenges him to "come and get it". "I plan to," John says, hinting to a heated fight in the near future. How bloody will this get and how?

'Yellowstone' airs on Sundays at 9 pm ET/PT on Paramount Network.
