A bunch of surprises was packed in the Season 3 premiere of 'Yellowstone' — of which, the most-anticipated one was to see the charming trespasser Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) shooed away. Played by the dashing 'Lost' actor Josh Holloway, who is Roarke Morris on the show? In the last episode, 'You're the Indian Now', Beth spots him on her property, there is plenty of sexual tension when she comes to meet him while he is fishing in the river and tells him to get out of her land.

In that introductory scene, Roarke's shrewdness and charm were inescapable, even for Beth who doesn't seem to spare anyone. Apparently, he knows the local rules too well and is not afraid of a confrontation. Calm and cool-headed, he shows no signs of danger. Nevertheless, in an uncanny way, Roarke's entry is a signal that he may have evil intentions and the Dutton family has no clue about it.

His character has been billed as the major antagonist to billionaire rancher John Dutton (Kevin Costner) and is officially said to be a villainous "hedge fund baller" who has ambitious plans for his land around the Dutton ranch. Roarke has bigger dreams than the villains on the second season, developer Dan Jenkins (Danny Huston) and real estate mogul Malcolm Beck (Neal McDonough). It seems like he has chalked out plans to build an airport, a ski resort and a community on the level of Park City, Utah.

Talking about his character, Holloway told USA Today, "I like to describe Roarke as the inevitable march of progress. You can't stop him. He's the slow steamroller, he's just going to keep going." Shedding light on how this is the real deal, he told TVLine: "There’s been conflict before — other ranchers and real-estate developers messing with them," adding, “But this is the first time they’ve come into contact with someone who can actually use the city government to [his advantage]. This is the real deal."

Titled ‘Freight Trains and Monsters,’ the upcoming episode may delve deeper into his real intentions. But the question is: Will Beth find out about it? The official summary reads: "The Duttons open camp, which proves to be the best therapy for Tate; Jamie and Hendon agree to teach a lesson to two criminals, but it does not go as intended; Beth learns more about Roarke's business plans; Teeter joins the bunkhouse."

Only time will tell what happens as more episodes roll out from the season. For now, Holloway told USA Today, "I'm getting ready to be dragged through the sagebrush," and added, "The man himself, Costner, leaned into me and said, 'You think you're winning? I'm about to teach you the rules, boy.' So, yeah, I'm going to get hurt."

‘Yellowstone’ Season 3 Episode 2 will premiere on June 28, 2020, at 9 pm ET, on Paramount Network.
