'Yellowstone' Season 2 Episode 7 preview: A shocked Jamie Dutton is finally part of the power and politics game
Spoilers for the sixth episode of the second season of 'Yellowstone'
We still have no idea what Jamie Dutton, played by Wes Bentley, told the reporter in the first season of 'Yellowstone', but what we do know now is that Jamie, whom we had previously thought too meek to be in the sinister game of power and politics on 'Yellowstone', could go to mad lengths to ensure that the interview is not printed.
In an extremely surprising turn of events – something we never expected – and in an even surprising character transformation, Jamie has acted in the most Dutton manner in order to keep the family's secret within the family.
It was in the first season that Jamie gave the interview to the reporter. While the contents of the interview have been kept under wraps since, it was quite telling that Jamie had given away some very important information.
When John Dutton (played by Kevin Costner) tells Jamie to do anything that it takes to keep the story from coming out, he takes it up.
After meeting Sarah (played by Michaela Conlin) in a remote location to discuss the story, he once again tells her that he doesn't want to be quoted. But she tells him there is nothing he can do now – that is just not how it works.
He even tries pleading with her telling that he gave the interview to her out of anger and that it would kill his family and destroy their legacy.
Now Sarah reveals her true reason behind the interview. And when she does, Jamie cannot hold it back. When she turns around to leave, Jamie loses control of the situation and rushes towards her and smashes her head against the car window.
Something holds him back for just a split second, but then he puts his hands around her neck and strangles her.
Jamie has never done this before – taken control over a situation like this. With the help of Rip (played by Cole Hauser) and Walker (played by Ryan Bingham), they make it look like her death was an accident and dump her body in the river.
Later, when John finds his son still in shock, he tells him that this wasn't the best way to handle the situation.
Jamie has taken care of the situation for now. But what after this? How is this going to affect Jamie? What does it mean for the Dutton Ranch? It is actually not all that easy for one to conceal a murder. Will this come back to bite the Duttons in the future?
'Yellowstone' airs on Paramount Network at 10 pm PT/ET.
