Unborn twins killed after Chicago man drags pregnant girlfriend by her hair before kicking her in belly

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: A woman pregnant with twins was beaten up so brutally by her boyfriend, killing her unborn babies. The alleged fight between the 24-year-old woman and her partner erupted last Sunday, November 22, when the victim, her daughter and the accused were driving a 2011 Cadillac at 9 am in the 8400 Block of South Wabash Avenue on the South Side, Chicago. The woman whose name has not been revealed was dating the unidentified 31-year-old man on and off for about three years, police said.
During the drive, an argument allegedly erupted between the pair that quickly escalated and the suspect started punching the woman in the side of the head, causing bruising and a cut to the woman’s mouth. The man then dragged his girlfriend by her hair across the driver’s seat and onto the pavement outside, before punting her in the stomach numerous times. Police said not just his partner, the man also allegedly manhandled her two-year-old daughter, plucked her from the back passenger’s seat and made her sit on the pavement while taking off her shoes.
After committing the alleged cruel acts, the man escaped in the black Cadillac as the woman called 911 for help. Authorities arrived and took the victim to Roseland Community Hospital, where she received treatment and an ultrasound was also done. Due to the kicking and punching, her unborn babies died and were declared dead at 11:49 am, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office stated. An autopsy will be done on them to find the exact cause of their death. Meanwhile, no arrest has been made yet in connection to the alleged violence. Reports said police are looking for people who witnessed the incident or any surveillance footage of it. They have also contacted the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
In another incident in Los Angeles, California, a woman and her unborn baby were murdered when they were sitting in a parked car on Neptune Avenue. Arlene Leonor Rodriguez, who was seven-month pregnant, was allegedly attacked by an unidentified suspect in Wilmington on November 15. Police said the 24-year-old was inside the parked vehicle while her male partner was working on the car's engine when the tragic incident happened. The suspect reportedly went near the couple around 11:30 am and fired multiple bullets into the vehicle, which hit Rodriguez and her companion.
After firing the bullets, the accused reportedly fled the scene while the victims were rushed to a hospital where Rodriguez and her unborn baby were declared dead. Police said the man did not suffer major injuries. "She was seven months pregnant, and tragically her baby did not survive," LAPD said in a statement. Rodriguez’s stepmother, Jessica Rodriguez, launched a GoFundMe page asking for financial help for her funeral expenses. “On Sunday, November 15th, we received the worst news a parent ever wants to hear. My stepdaughter Arlena Rodriguez, age 24, was shot and killed in Wilmington, California. Just 8 days after her 24th birthday. She was 7 months pregnant with a little boy. She is the mother of 3 kids, 1 boy 3 yrs old, and twin girls 2 yrs old,” the page stated that also added: “The family is asking for donations or any help to help put Arlena and her baby boy to rest. Any help is much appreciated.”
