Woman in coma wakes up to hear family reading her last rites but finds herself unable to tell them she's awake
Naomi Bailie recalled her horrific experience and shared that she had suffered from a version of the 'locked-in' syndrome
Naomi Bailie was diagnosed with meningitis and had to be put into an induced coma in order to give her body a chance to recover from the illness. She then woke up while still in a coma and was able to hear everything happening around her.
However, the 33-year-old was unable to tell the medics and her family that she was conscious. In a terrifying twist, she even heard a priest read her last rites which are prayers given to a Catholic person before their death. As reported by The Sun, Bailie spoke to Fabulous Digital and shared, "I was trying to get their attention... but I couldn't. I thought, 'I'm going to die'." The mother of one had suffered from a version of what is known as 'locked-in syndrome'.
