A woman, who is a mother of two children, was caught rifling through a 94-year-old veteran's wallet and other belongings and then stealing some cash in his own home. The surveillance cameras recorded the entire incident. The woman, identified as Heather Weldon was seen entering Thomas Hendrix's home in Douglas, Georgia on Monday along with her two children and a man, according to police.

Officials are reportedly investigating the incident.

Hendrix is a retired US Navy veteran who lives with his caretaker of 10-years, Neil DeLoach. Reports state that Neil was not at home at the time of the incident and the veteran himself let the family-of-four inside his house.

According to the surveillance camera footage, the man and two children can be seen leading Hendrix into another room while the woman stays behind with the excuse to use the washroom.

However, the clip shows Weldon scourging through Hendrix's wallet instead of going to the restroom and was recorded stealing money from it.

Police reportedly said that Weldon had stolen $40 out of the veteran's wallet.

The woman, in the clip, can also be seen stuffing the cash into her dress and then moving towards the washroom to flush the toilet.

Neil DeLoach informed the police that he was not at home when these people entered the house, and he does not even know the family.

DeLoach, while talking to WISTV, said: "Well, first of all, I didn't know who they were. I was kind of panicking. I knew Mr. Hendrix didn't know them."

"It kind of scared me. I've got security cameras all over the property that you can see, and they still came right in, and you know, very brave. And that's what scares me, about the whole situation, people are just brave," he added.

Officials said that Weldon was identified after she attempted to defend her actions on Facebook in the comments section of the video of the theft.

Weldon commented on the video, saying that there had been a "big misunderstanding."

"I did not steal from him it was all a big misunderstanding. I done spoke with the man and everything is took care of!!" Weldon commented on the video.

Reports state that Weldon stands a chance to face a misdemeanor charge of theft.
