Babysitter stabs and burns 6-month-old in devil-worshipping ritual to 'save the world from from apocalypse'
A 23-year-old babysitter, entrusted with taking care of a six-month-old baby, has reportedly killed the baby boy in a "devil-worshipping ritual." The woman, identified as Viktoria Aimetdinova, has been sentenced to forced psychiatric treatment in Russia.
Aimetdinova reportedly told the police that she had strangled, stabbed, and then burned the child, identified as Bogdan Gafner, in a forest in an effort to "save the world from the apocalypse." Reports state that at the time of the incident, the 23-year-old, had a beard glued to her face to prevent the "devil from being attracted by her beauty before she finished the black magic ceremony," according to the Daily Mail.
A court heard that Aimetdinova took the baby from his parents' house while they were at a funeral and then later tortured and killed him in a forest nearby. The parents reportedly trusted the 23-year-old with their child because she was the girlfriend of the infant's half-brother, identified as 25-year-old Andrey.
When they came back to their house, they found the babysitter and the child missing and alerted the authorities. Police officials, after a frantic search, found the woman carrying the child’s charred corpse in nearby woodland.
The court, located in Zavotdoukovsk, Tyumen Oblast, was told that the woman had prepared for the "voodoo sacrifice" well in advance and was seeking an opportunity to be alone with the child. The woman was pictured on a Russian TV news channel in handcuffs in the court dock.
Reports state that the woman had also posted disturbing social media messages online and had told a friend several days before the incident that she was about to become a "star."
Aimetdinova, in one of her posts on social media, wrote: "Antichrist is the one, and it's me. I see the devil in everyone. Mankind brings itself to hell. The countdown will start from the moment of the coming war."
The incident left the baby's father, 50-year-old Igor, distraught, and who in court said: "She glued that hair on her chin and covered one of her eyes, like a pirate. After our son's massacre, the police investigator asked her why she did it. Viktoria said she heard some voices, and that she was afraid the devil would be attracted by her beauty, not letting her finish the ceremony."
Igor and his 31-year-old wife Natalia told the court that Aimetdinova acted out of revenge after she and Andrey had a fight and the latter told her that he was ending their relationship.
The baby's parents have objected to the sentence given to the woman, and have demanded that she be handed a life imprisonment sentence for the heinous crime.
"She did not ask forgiveness," the baby's mother said. "I did not see any repentance on her face. She only said she was upset that she failed to complete the ceremony," she added.
Aimetdinova's case is set to return to court after she undergoes an enforced psychiatric treatment at a secure hospital, according to reports.
