SOMERSET, WISCONSIN: A Wisconsin high school health teacher who sent sexually explicit messages and images to a 15-year-old student and then raped him at her home is facing seven felonies relating to sexual misconduct.

The woman, 23-year-old Talia Jo Warner, was formerly a teacher at the Somerset High School in St. Croix County. She was accused by the victim of sending him roughly 10 pictures and videos, which included one of her performing a sexual act on herself, between October 2018 and December 2018, stated a criminal complaint obtained by the Twin Cities Pioneer Press.

The allegations came to light on January 15, after a teacher and students alerted Somerset School District officials about Warner's two encounters with the student outside the school — once in her car down the street from his house and another time at her Lake Elmo, Minnesota, home.

The complaint stated that Somerset School District officials "believed the information was false" and conducted an investigation before alerting law enforcement about the incidents.

The victim was interviewed a total of four times throughout the investigation, the first of which was by the school and in which he denied any inappropriate contact with the teacher, and the other three with law enforcement during which he admitted to contact.

The 15-year-old reportedly also told police that Warner picked him up on December 14, 2018, after a sporting event and that she drove him back to her home, where they had sex.

Authorities subsequently reviewed Snapchat records and found that messages between Warner and the victim intensified with "sexual talk and behavior" over months. There was also talk of sending nude pictures, but investigators did not find any of the images or videos of Warner the victim claimed he had received.

On August 28, Warner was charged with second-degree sexual assault of a child, use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, child enticement, causing a child older than 13 to view sexual activity, two counts of exposing genitals, pubic area or intimate parts to a child, and exposing a child to harmful material.

She made her first appearance in court on September 5, and if convicted of her charges could face decades behind bars. Second-degree sexual assault of a child and use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime carry a maximum of 40 years in prison, as well as a $100,000 fine.

Child enticement is punishable by up to 25 years in prison and a $100,000 fine, and causing a child to view sexual activity has a maximum sentence of six years behind bars and a $10,000 fine. The other charges carry a prison sentence of up to three-and-a-half years and a $10,000 fine.
