Will there be 'Ted' Season 2? Here's the renewal status for Seth MacFarlane's prequel series
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Seth MacFarlane is back with a prequel series of the hit comedy franchise 'Ted,' which premiered on January 11, 2024, on Peacock at 6 pm PT. A potential second season may be in the cards if the series performs well with viewers.
The new 2024 series is written, directed, and co-produced by Seth MacFarlane, who has also voiced the titular character.
'Ted' Season 2 update
While there has been no official confirmation, Max Burkholder and Giorgia Whigham, who plays a young John Bennett and Cousin Blaire respectively, shared their excitement at the prospect of a Season 2 of Ted.
Burkholder said in an interview with Dexerto, “Obviously that’d be sick. The first season, what I’ve seen of it is hilarious and it was so fun to shoot. If [Season 2] ended up happening, I’d be, you know, flying out to L.A. in a second.”
Whigham added, “Yeah, you get to work with some of your favorite people every day, and just go have fun, and talk to a fake teddy bear and laugh. So, yeah, I think [a second season] would be amazing.”
What is the plot of 'Ted'?
'Ted' is set in the 90s and follows the story of a sentient teddy bear named Ted who lives with 16-year-old John Bennett and his family in Massachusetts.
Ted is a loyal friend to John, though his influence on him often turns out to be questionable. Humor follows as Ted is forced to attend school with John unintentionally putting him in awkward situations.
The official synopsis of 'Ted' reads, “It’s 1993 and Ted the Bear’s moment of fame has passed, leaving him living with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett, who lives in a working-class Boston home with his parents and cousin. Ted may not be the best influence on John, but when it comes right down to it, he’s willing to go out on a limb to help his friend and his family.”
'Ted' is an eight-episodic series with an approx run time of 30 minutes each. All the episodes are now streaming on Peacock.
It features Max Burkholder as John Bennett, Seth MacFarlane as the voice for Ted, Alanna Ubach as Susan Bennett, Scott Grimes as Matty Bennett, and Giorgia Whigham as Blaire.
