Has ‘Industry’ been renewed for Season 5? Creator drops update as future hangs in air
Co-created by former investment bankers, Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, the HBO series 'Industry' is currently airing Season 4, which premiered on January 11. Revolving around the lives of young graduates navigating the high-pressure world of international finance, the ongoing instalment is set to air its finale on March 1. With Episode 6 released on February 15, the show has only two more episodes left before wrapping up the season. However, HBO has still not renewed the series for season 5, as of this writing.
Past seasons of the show have been renewed right around the finale, so the series will likely be renewed for its next chapter sometime in March. On January 30, Deadline spoke to HBO Chief Casey Bloys about the possibility of Season 5, but he simply stated, 'You’ll have to wait and see.' Nevertheless, he praised the show's latest instalment for outperforming previous seasons. "Industry is a really great story. First of all, it has grown. It’s unusual in that it has grown every season. And typically, we see growth during the season, and when we bring back Season 2, Season 3, and Season 4, we’ve seen catch-up viewing for each previous season. So it’s been a nice effect," he added.
In 'Industry' Season 4, the story moves away from Pierpoint and follows the lives of its protégés, Harper Stern and Yasmin Kara-Hanani. Their friendship is tested at every turn as they try to establish themselves in the cutthroat world led by corruption and deceit. As per the show's official logline, the duo is drawn into a 'high-stakes, globetrotting cat-and-mouse game' when a 'splashy fintech darling arrives in London. The season will see Yasmin navigate through her relationship with Sir Henry Muck as Harper gets involved with Whitney Halberstram. This is bound to escalate tensions between them as they deal with the pressures of power and money.
Season 4 of 'Industry' features Myha'la as Harper Stern, Max Minghella as Whitney Halberstram, Marisa Abela as Yasmin Kara-Hanani, Ken Leung as Eric Tao, Kit Harington as Sir Henry Muck, Charlie Heaton as Jim Dycker, Toheeb Jimoh as Kwabena Bannerman, Kiernan Shipka as Hayley Clay, Kal Penn as Jay Jonah Atterbury, Miriam Petche as Sweetpea Golightly, and Sagar Radia as Rishi Ramdani. Other cast members include Tom Stourton as James Ashford, Claire Forlani as Cordelia Hanani-Spyrka, Amy James-Kelly as Jennifer Bevan, Andrew Havill as Alexander, Viscount Norton, Roger Barclay as Otto Mostyn, Jack Farthing as Edward Smith, and Edward Holcroft as Sebastian Stefanowicz. All new episodes of 'Industry' Season 4 will air on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and HBO Max in the United States. The episodes will air on Mondays on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the United Kingdom.
