LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Manhunt,' Apple TV+'s historical drama series adapted from James L Swanson's bestseller, 'Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln's Killer,' may not be renewed for a second season.

The series stars Tobias Menzies, Anthony Boyle, Lovie Simone, Will Harrison, Damian O'Hare, Matt Walsh, Spencer Treat Clark, and Craig Nigh in pivotal roles.

The show officially premiered on Friday, March 15, and quickly gained popularity for its gripping storyline and stellar performances.

The last episode of 'Manhunt' aired on Friday, April 19, delivering a satisfying conclusion to the story for viewers.

'Manhunt' Season 2 is not in the works, as series creator Monica Beletsky reportedly developed the show as a miniseries or limited series.

The absence of a green light from the creator leaves the return of the series uncertain, and the timeline for its potential comeback remains unknown.

'Manhunt' Season 1 successfully concluded the narrative surrounding the pursuit of John Wilkes Booth (Anthony Boyle), delivering a captivating portrayal of the historical manhunt.

With Booth's capture and the subsequent events, including his death, the narrative arc of 'Manhunt' Season 1 was effectively resolved.

While many shows initially labeled as miniseries have evolved into multi-season projects, 'Manhunt' is unlikely to follow suit. This is primarily because Swanson's book, which serves as the foundation of the series, does not have a sequel.

What could ‘Manhunt’ Season 2 be about?

While 'Manhunt' Season 1 focused on the pursuit of Booth and the aftermath of Abraham Lincoln's (Hamish Linklater) assassination, Season 2 could potentially explore how events changed after Edwin Stanton's (Tobias Menzies) death.

The series could explore the motivations and actions of individuals such as David Herold (Will Harrison), who was involved in Booth's escape, or Mary Surratt (Carrie Lazar), who was convicted and executed for her role in the assassination plot.

Additionally, Season 2 could delve into the lives of other key figures involved in the manhunt and its aftermath.

The impact of Lincoln's assassination on the nation and the political landscape of the time could also be a focal point in Season 2, as Season 1 mainly revolved around Booth's capture.

All the episodes of 'Manhunt' are available to stream on AppleTV+
