LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: If Benjamin Franklin's story, in Apple TV+'s 'Franklin', has captivated you, here's a bad news for you. The biographical drama may not be renewed for another season.

Starring Michael Douglas in lead, the series explores Franklin's unofficial diplomatic mission in France to secure soldiers, funds and alliance to aid American Revolutionary War against the Great Britain.

The series, in its eight, hour-long episodes, showcases his extended stay of eight years in France, dealing with French ministers and betrayal from close allies.

Here's why 'Franklin' may not be renewed for another season

As much as one may want to continue watching Michael Douglas' compelling portrayal of one of the most important figures in America's history, the lack of further narrative limits the scope for another season.

'Franklin' was rolled out as a miniseries on Apple TV+, giving us an impression that the story would most likely conclude in one season.

And now when the finale episode has aired, our speculations of its non-renewal have grown stronger.

What happens in 'Franklin' finale episode?

In 'Franklin' Episode 8, Benjamin Franklin betrays France by signing peace negotiations with Britain. The Treaty of Paris marks the end of the American Revolution War, announcing America as a free nation.

Meanwhile, Franklin also confronts Edward Bancroft (Daniel Mays) for his betrayal. Surprisingly, instead of lashing out at him, Franklin handles it with grace as he calls Bancroft his "friend" and shakes hands with him.

Count of Vergennes (Thibault de Montalembert) and Jacques-Donatien Le Ray de Chaumont (Olivier Claverie) are left pondering if the debts they offered to America will ever be repaid.

Franklin finally boards a ship to America while his grandson, Temple Franklin (Noah Jupe) chooses to stay behind.

'Franklin' finale episode offers a satisfying conclusion to the series, leaving no cliffhangers and scope for Season 2.

However, should there be another season, we'll keep you posted.

'Franklin' is available to stream on Apple TV+
