LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Netflix's latest excursion into science fiction, titled ‘3 Body Problem’, which is based on the Chinese novel 'The Three-Body Problem' by Liu Cixin, will return with Season 2.

Netflix officially released the episodes of ‘3 Body Problem’ Season 1 on Thursday, March 21.

The eight-part series, which stars Benedict Wong, Jess Hong, Jovan Adepo, and Eiza González, follows the interaction of a human civilization with an alien civilization that inhabits three sun-like stars.

Showrunners David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo are already working on '3 Body Problem' Season 2.

In a recent interview with Collider, the creators of '3 Body Problem' discussed their ambitious plans to adapt the entire trilogy written by Liu Cixin.

The trio explained their plans about bringing the remaining two books in the trilogy to life, promising fans a comprehensive and immersive adaptation of 'The Three-Body Problem' trilogy.

“For Season 2, we’ve got better than a rough idea. We’re much farther along with that plan than rough-idea stages,” Weiss said.

He continued: "From there on out it becomes, you know, the farther away things get the hazier your view of them is. But there, in the third book, there’s so many amazing landmarks, in terms of scenes and situations and events that we can see pretty clearly, that we know, we’re not completely sure how our characters are gonna get to that place, but we know they gotta get to that place"

How many seasons are expected for '3 Body Problem'?

Benioff and Weiss, the duo behind HBO's legendary fantasy thriller 'Game of Thrones', discussed their vision for the latest Netflix series, revealing the ending of the trilogy is “beautiful”.

However, it is expected that to reach the final pages of Liu's epic and effectively tell the entire story, the showrunners would require three to four seasons.

The show's creators are considering the challenge posed by the length of the final book in the trilogy, 'Death's End' and acknowledge that its adaptation may require multiple TV seasons.

It appears that viewers will need to remain patient as they await more specific information regarding the release date of Season 2.
