Will Paramount+'s 'Yonder' have Season 2? Here is everything you need to know
Spoilers for 'Yonder'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Rarely does a series give an immersive experience by showing a realistic fantasy world. Paramount+ has released a sci-fi fantasy show 'Yonder' which gives us a futuristic utopia presented in a realistic way. Titled 'Yonder', the six-episode series has been released on the aforementioned streaming platform.
'Yonder' follows the story of a loving couple Kim Jae-hyun and Cha Yi-hoo. Before Yi-hoo dies of terminal cancer, she uploads her memory onto a VRorphin chip to live as an interactive memory forever. This leads Jae-hyun to find out the truth about the "heaven" called 'Yonder'. The sci-fi fantasy show, though a slow-burner, is one of the best series to binge-watch. 'Yonder' features Shin Ha-kyun as Kim Jae-hyun, Han Ji-min as Cha Yi-hoo, Lee Jeong-eun as Seiren, and Jung Jin-young as Doctor K. Let us take a look to see if the sci-fi fantasy series has another chapter in store for us.

What is 'Yonder' about? Plot of Paramount+ series explained
When will 'Yonder' Season 2 be released?
Though 'Yonder' is a six-part series, the sci-fi fantasy did not give out a complete arc of the story. There has not been an official announcement for Season 2 yet, but there is plenty of room to be explored for at least two more seasons. However, the recent alliance of Paramount+ with CJ ENM (South Korean entertainment company) gives us a glimpse of hope for the future of the series. Depending on the rating that 'Yonder' receives on Paramount+, we can hope that the sci-fi fantasy series will be green-lit for further seasons.
What is the plot of 'Yonder'?
The finale of 'Yonder' concluded on a somewhat anti-climatic note. The final episode of the sci-fi fantasy series gave a glimpse of several faults in the so-called perfect heaven 'Yonder'. 'Yonder' is a place where people go to after their deaths by transferring their memories onto a VRorphin chip. And several people voluntarily killed themselves to be with their loved ones in a perfect utopia. As people were promised everlasting happiness in 'Yonder', it comes with a huge prize. The catch is that nothing ever changes in 'Yonder'. People were forced to live in a looped simulation forever. This makes the baby girl Yi-hoo never grow, causing Yi-hoo to act frantically. Finally, she accepts her fate and vanishes from memory. In a shocking twist of events, Jae-hyun has been saved by Hacker Park and Jo Eun and the trio meets up with Seiren regarding the fault in 'Yonder'.
Jae-hyun explains all the events to Seiren and asks her to turn off the 'Yonder' program for good. But turning it off means killing every memory inside the virtual world. Jae-hyun and his friends leave Seiren alone and we never get to see if Seiren actually shut down the 'Yonder' for good.
If there will be a Season 2, it would directly follow this cryptic ending and the chances of exploring both possibilities is likely. If the 'Yonder' is still open, we would see Jae-hyun and his friends fighting to shut it down. On the other hand, if 'Yonder' were to be shut down, we would see the people in town rising up against the decision and would try to keep the 'Yonder' open as several people every day die voluntarily to be there. The series takes place in 2032, and there are still several futuristic elements left to be explored as well.
What will be the cast of 'Yonder' Season 2?
If there were to be an upcoming season for 'Yonder', the possible retaining cast members would be Shin Ha-kyun, who will reprise the role of Kim Jae-hyun, and Lee Jeong-eun as Seiren as she is still in the real world. The season would also see Bae Yoo-ram as Hacker Park and Jo Bo-bi as Jo Eun. As Cha Yi-hoo finally departed the world of 'Yonder' by drinking a potion, there is only a little chance of Han Ji-min returning to show.
As we do not know if Seiren had actually shut down 'Yonder' for good, there is a possibility that we would see other people, including Doctor K, Peach (Yoon Yi-re), and Choi Han-ki (Cha Soon-bae), who are currently with their family in Yonder.
'Yonder' is currently streaming on Paramount+.
