Will Marvel Studios' 'Secret Wars' introduce the X-Men and the Beyonder to the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
Though Marvel's Phase 4 has yet to truly begin, fans are already beginning to question how Marvel could possibly top the cosmic spectacle that was 'Infinity War' and 'Endgame.' The two-part movie even was the culmination of over a decade's worth of Marvel movies all building up to one grand story. But since stories move on, what comes next? Fan-favorite poster designer Bosslogic has shared hints of what Marvel could work on next: 'Secret Wars.'
When it comes to crossovers, it doesn't get much bigger than 'Secret Wars'. The first iteration featured the all-powerful Beyonder teleporting the heroes and villains of Earth to a planet he named Battleworld in order to see who would rise to the top. The second iteration, which was crafted over years of storylines by Jonathan Hickman, went about as large scale as a comic could go. An entire race of Beyonders destroyed the Multiverse and Doctor Doom was given godlike powers and created his own Battleworld that was a mashup of all the universes he could save. Marvel stopped its entire line of comics under the pretense that the Marvel Universe as we know it was destroyed, and only put out 'Secret Wars' issues for most of the event's duration.
Two of Bosslogic's posters gathered special attention from the fans, with one featuring the Beyonder himself. "Willing this one into existence hard I see," writes a fan. "I'm all for it. Just eager for phase 4 to officially kickoff" writes another. "I think i heard that it IS the next big thing. Which is what they are building towards by introducing the multi-universe. Probably also a good way to bring mutants into the MCU."
Bringing mutants into the MCU is another thing that appears to be on Bosslogic's mind, as one of the posters feature's Magneto's hands and familiar purple energy signature holding Thor's Mjolnir aloft. "His is the only movie that can top endgame for the MCU," writes a fan, on Instagram. "If they do Secret Wars in the MCU it should definitely be the Hickman version," writes another.
Bosslogic apparently does have the Hickman version of Secret Wars in mind, as he also presents a poster of Doctor Doom minus his signature green. Though Doom played a part in the original 'Secret Wars,' stealing the power of the Beyonder for himself, the God Emperor Doom featured in Hickman's version wore an all-white version of his costume to represent his godhood.
With Marvel now legally able to put Fantastic Four and X-Men related characters into the MCU, the introduction of mutants and villains like Magneto and Doctor Doom into their sprawling mythology is more of a possiblity than ever. While Bosslogic's posters are, for the moment, only fanart, they're still very representative of what fans hope to see on the big screen.
