The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has meant no red carpet and no physical audience for this year’s Emmy Awards. However, producers and makers of the show have welcomed the new normal with open arms by sending camera kits and microphones to all the nominees, who are a part of the virtual award ceremony. The 2020 virtual Emmys premiered on Sunday, September 20, 2020, beginning at 8 pm ET/ 5 pm PT.

While people wait for some jaw-dropping performances and an hour packed full of entertainment, fans are speculating if the award ceremony would feature a trailer of the Disney+ miniseries titled WandaVision. The upcoming show, which has become the talk of the town, is based on the Marvel Comics characters Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch and Vision. One user speculating that the trailer might drop soon tweeted, "I can't confirm it 100%, but I'm hearing from my sources there might indeed be a #WandaVision trailer tonight during the #Emmys. It's "likely" is the word... Stay tuned, I will cover of course if it drops! #Marvel #MCU #DisneyPlus."

Expressing excitement on the show’s trailer, which is rumored to drop during the award ceremony, one user tweeted, “ARE WE GETTING A WANDAVISION TRAILER AT THE #EMMYS OMG.” Another user tweeted sounding more reasonable, "We might get a #WandaVision trailer during #Emmys loud some speculations. It's super great, but I think the first trailer will be released on 7 October."

One seemingly excited user wrote on the micro-blogging website, "OH MY GOD I CANT BREATHE ITS GONNA HAPPEN." Another fan reminded others of what they did with 'The Mandalorian' last time and said, "Ooh please please I hope we get it tonight. Please don’t drop it at the last minute like Mando Season 2. Please don’t. Fingers crossed it’s tonight.  I so desperately wanna see a #WandaVision trailer."

Others kept building to the rumors as they tweeted, "So there're rumors kept coming that we'll probably have a #WandaVision trailer later during #Emmys...Interesting." One person wrote, "I'm hearing a #WandaVision trailer is going to drop during the #Emmys tonight."

One user tweeted, "And if they drop this tonight, know it’s gonna be phenomenal. We’ve seen how long Disney was willing to wait for something that needed tweaking. SO EXCITED."  Another one wrote, "When you search the WandaVision hashtag, Emmys pop up. Could that be a sign too?"

'WandaVision' will be the story of the beloved Avengers' Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch and android Vision. Since Vision was killed by Thanos in ‘Infinity War’ and was not among those the heroes who returned for the recently released ‘Avengers: Endgame’ and Marvel announced that the show will take place after the events of the goliath movie, it remains to be seen how it will be worked into the universe. Marvel has described the show as a "mega-event series" for Disney Plus, "unlike anything we’ve done before". The limited series will see Paul Bettany reprising his role as Vision and Elizabeth Olsen reprising her role as Wanda. While Bettany, who claimed he did not know if his character was alive or dead on the show, stayed mum during the 2019 Comic-Con panel, Olsen revealed, “It's going to get weird, we're going to have fun.”

Nor Marvel nor Disney + have mentioned anything about dropping a WandaVision trailer but fans have been on a speculation overdrive.

The 72nd Primetime Emmys is airing live on the ABC network. Jimmy Kimmel, one of the main stars on late-night TV, returned to host the Emmys for the third time. The Emmys 2020 nominees were announced by Leslie Jones, Laverne Cox, Josh Gad and Tatiana Maslany on July 28, 2020, through a virtual weblink on July 28, 2020. Among the list of nominees, there were some big productions such as HBO's 'Watchmen' with 26 nominations, Amazon's 'The Marvelous Mrs Maisel' with 20 nominations, and 'Succession' and 'Ozark' with 18 nominations. It has also been duly noted that Netflix took first place with 160 nominations and HBO came in right behind with 107 nominations. It’s the second time that Netflix has taken a lead on HBO. In 2018, Netflix ended HBO’s 17-year highest Emmy nominations streak by landing 112 nominations as opposed to HBO’s 108.
