Arcade Fire's Will Butler’s new album is arriving and it's called ‘Generations.’ The 37-year-old multi-instrumentalist first announced his new album in July via his official Twitter account. If you don’t know who Butler is, then let us remind you that this talented vocalist scored an Academy nomination for the movie ‘Her’ in 2014.

Will Butler’s first solo album called ‘Friday Night’ was released on June 17, 2016. Pitchfork described his work on the album as: “Butler obviously lives for those moments of musical risk, when he can either fall on his face or subsume himself into something larger. He prizes spontaneity both in writing and playing, which adds a rambunctious energy to 'Son of God' and punk abandon to 'II'. It gives him license to explore every style and genre that comes into his head, and the new songs point in some directions Butler might go in the future.”

‘Generations’ will be Butler’s second solo album. The cover art of the album includes a thumbprint impression in red color. Shedding some light on his joyous song ‘Surrender’, he says: “Surrender’ is masquerading as a love song, but it’s more about friendship. About the confusion that comes as people change, didn’t you use to have a different ideal? Didn’t we have the same ideal at some point? Which of us changed? How did the world change? Relationships that we sometimes wish we could let go of, but that are stuck within us forever,” reports DIY Magazine.

Here are all the interesting details you need to know about this album.

Release Date

‘Generations’ will be out on September 25 via Merge Records.

Concept

Speaking about the concept of his new LP, the singer-songwriter said in an official statement, “'Generations' is more of a novel—despairing, funny, a little bit epic.... A big chunk of this record is asking: What’s my place in American history? What’s my place in America’s present? Both in general — as a participant, as we all are, in the shit that’s going down — but, also extremely particularly: me as Will Butler, rich person, white person, Mormon, Yankee, parent, musician of some sort, I guess.”

Tracklist

The album will consist of ten songs. Two songs from the LP namely ‘Surrender’ and ‘Close My Eyes’ have already hit the internet. Here’s how the entire tracklist of ‘Generations’ looks like:
‘Outta Here’
‘Bethlehem’
‘Close My Eyes’
‘I Don’t Know What I Don’t Know’
‘Surrender’
‘Hide It Away’
‘Hard Times’
‘Promised’
‘Not Gonna Die’
‘Fine’

Where to Stream

‘Generations’ will be available on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Bandcamp, and all the other major digital platforms.
