UAE wife files for divorce saying husband never argues with her, always helps with chores and shows 'extreme affection'
A woman in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reportedly filed for divorce over complaints that her husband showers her with "extreme love" and gifts, even helping with the housework, according to reports.
The woman, who has not been identified, told a Sharia court in Fujairah that her husband never argued or yelled at her and has always been kind. However, despite his love and attention, she claimed that her life was "hell", UAE newspaper Khaleej Times reported. She said that her husband's "love and compassion are so over the top" that she had to file for their divorce.
"I am choked by his extreme love and affection. He even assisted me in cleaning the house without me asking him," she told the court, adding that the pair could never had an argument and the husband did not shout at her during their one-year marriage.
Reports state that when the woman complained about his weight, the husband started a strict regime of dieting and exercise which even left him with a broken leg. However, the woman was still not pleased and continued to complain of her husband's compliments towards her.
"I am eagerly longing for a single day of dispute, but this seems impossible with my romantic husband who always forgave me and showered me with daily gifts," she said. "I need a real discussion, even an argument, not this hassle-free life full of obedience."
The husband, meanwhile, also addressed the court and begged it to deny the divorce request, saying that everybody learns from their mistakes.
"It's not fair to judge a marriage from the first year, and everybody learns from their mistakes. I am and always wish to be a perfect and kind husband," he told the court.
The Sharia court eventually gave a chance to the couple to settle their dispute within themselves and ordered an adjournment.
