Why was Stetson Bennett arrested? Georgia player nabbed weeks after second CFP national championship
DALLAS, TEXAS: Football player Stetson Bennett is in the news again. This time, it is not related to the Georgia quarterback's prestigious football career.
Bennett, 25, was arrested on a charge of public intoxication at Tribeca Way in Old East Dallas on Sunday, January 30, according to police. Seems like the Bulldogs player is still celebrating his victory, nearly three weeks after leading his team to their second straight college championship.

Why was Stetson Bennett arrested?
Bennett was arrested around 6 am after officers responded to a nuisance complaint. The complaint reported that a man was banging on doors.
Upon arrival, police discovered Bennett at the scene "and determined he was intoxicated," according to a police press release, reported Daily Mail. The quarterback was arrested and charged with public intoxication before being taken to a city detention center. He was released from custody the same day around 11 am.
Who is Stetson Bennett?
Bennett, a two-time national champion from Georgia, holds an impressive record of 15-0 and passed for 4,127 yards with 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions. His final college football game was the 65-7 trouncing by the Bulldogs over the TCU Horned Frogs in the College Football Playoffs.
Bennett threw two touchdown passes and ran two more in the game calling it a moment he will always remember. "That was special, I'll remember it for the rest of my life," Bennett said after the game in Los Angeles, adding, "Champions of the whole world," per the Daily Mail. "Just seeing everybody who was here when I got here, and they're still here and we're back-to-back, I just, I don't know," he said. He is known to be among the most accomplished college players in NCAA history.

Rodarius 'Rara' Thomas
Wide receiver Rodarius "Rara" Thomas was arrested on Monday, January 23, and charged with felony false imprisonment and domestic family violence (first offense), according to a representative of the Athens-Clarke County Jail, per MEAWW. Thomas spent the first two seasons of his collegiate career at Mississippi State and transferred to Georgia after Mississippi State’s season ended.
Thomas reportedly confined and held the person "without legal authority by standing in front of the dorm room door, blocking the exit, and telling her she cannot leave." He also reportedly "did intentionally cause visible bodily harm [by] causing bruising to the right biceps and bruising and abrasion to her shins." He has also been charged with misdemeanor battery. He was freed later after posting a $1,850 bond.
Javon Bullard
Star Bulldogs defensive back Javon Bullard was arrested on September 26, 2022, and charged with seven misdemeanors, including DUI. According to ESPN, Bullard was charged with a DUI under the age of 21, improper, turning, furnishing, purchasing and possession of alcoholic beverages as a person under 21 and failure to use his headlights among others.
UGA officials reportedly said in a statement, "We are limited in what we can say, but the report is disappointing and is not reflective of our standards. In addition to University disciplinary processes, we will address the incident internally according to Athletic Association policies."
