Why was Avery Guinn eliminated? 'American Idol' judges scared as contestant performs 'no pun intended' act
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'American Idol' Season 22 contestant Avery Guinn did not get the chance to move ahead in the show. The 'Haunted House' actor scared the judges, making Katy Perry hide behind her chair.
He was seen singing for only a short period during his audition round. In the major parts of his clips, Avery was seen startling the judges.
Although the reason behind his elimination was not mentioned in the released clip, speculation suggests that his singing might not have resonated with the judges as much as his instrumental skills did.
Seeing ABC leave his audition round hanging without any answer made a fan comment, "Well, did he get through or not?" To this, another answered, "He should have gone through my opinion." One slammed the artist, "What the hell? No pun intended! Lol!"
A fan claimed, "That was honestly really creepy like a horror show lol. That's a big no from me."
One tweeted, "Avery Guinn wasn't as good as William Hung but... it slaked my comedy thirst."

Shocked Lionel Richie shouts at fellow 'American Idol' judge Luke Bryan
Avery Guinn started his audition round with a wicked laugh and haunting music. Seeing the intense atmosphere, Luke Bryan shouted towards Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, trying to scare them.
Lionel instantly stood up and said, "What are you doing? Man, cut it out." Continuing the prank, Katy brought Avery near and asked him to play music just beside Lionel. He then suddenly created scary music, once again frightening the judge.
Lionel said, "Just excuse me for a minute; that got my attention in a lot of places."
Lionel Richie hopes to never meet contestant Avery Guinn
As Avery Guinn sang the song, Katy Perry got up and went behind her chair to hide. Frightened by the scary vibe, Lionel Richie said, "Man, I hope I don't meet you anywhere in a dark alley. I'm going to run like hell, okay?"
As Avery left, he once again gave a big scary laugh to the camera.
