WASHINGTON, DC: New York Representative George Santos anticipates his imminent expulsion from Congress following the release of a scathing report by the House Ethics Committee.

The report, which alleges substantial evidence of lawbreaking by the New York Republican, has sent shockwaves through the political landscape.

George Santos lashes out at House colleagues

During a defiant speech on X Spaces on Friday, November 24, George Santos, unapologetic and brazen, lashed out at his congressional colleagues with taunts and obscenities.

Despite his strong stance, he acknowledged the likelihood of expulsion, stating, "I know I’m going to get expelled when this expulsion resolution goes to the floor. I’ve done the math over and over, and it doesn’t look really good."

The developments unfolded a week after Michael Guest, the Republican chairman of the House Ethics Committee, introduced a resolution seeking Santos' expulsion once Congress resumes after the Thanksgiving break.

Notably, Santos had survived two previous expulsion votes, but the tide seemed to be turning as more colleagues shifted their stance in favor of expulsion, as per the Associated Press.

The committee's exhaustive investigation revealed a range of alleged misconduct by Santos, including the misuse of campaign funds for personal purposes. Luxury retail purchases and transactions on adult content websites were cited, with the additional accusation that he caused the campaign to file false or incomplete reports.

Investigators condemned his actions, stating, "Representative Santos sought to fraudulently exploit every aspect of his House candidacy for his own personal financial profit." They highlighted his lack of cooperation, noting that he repeatedly "evaded" straightforward requests for information.

Addressing the report during the conversation on X Spaces, Santos chose not to delve into specifics, dismissing them as "slanderous" and an attempt to force him out of his seat.

He expressed concern that any defense of his conduct could be used against him in an ongoing criminal case initiated by federal prosecutors.

Santos adopted a reflective tone in the three-hour broadcast, recounting his journey from Republican prominence to what he dubbed "the Mary Magdalene of the United States Congress."

He criticized fellow lawmakers, accusing them of misconduct, including voting while intoxicated, which he asserted was more egregious than his own actions.

"They all act like they’re in ivory towers with white pointy hats and they’re untouchable," said Santos, continuing, "Within the ranks of United States Congress there's felons galore, there’s people with all sorts of shystie backgrounds.”

The disgraced GOP Rep explained that his decision to not seek reelection was due to his frustration with the "sheer arrogance" of his congressional colleagues. He asserted his authority, stating, "These people need to understand it’s done when I say it’s done, when I want it to be done, not when they want it to be done."

One wrote, "Does he also expect to be thrown in prison?"

Another chimed in, "He got more issues than a magazine. smh."

"Can't happen soon enough. Taking entirely too long for a proven fraud who lied about himself & his qualifications to be disciplined for his lack of integrity & ethics," remarked a person.

Someone else said, "Hope he is right thing time around," while one more inquired, "So….why not resign?"
