Why is Tim Talty being attacked online? Officials say Dr Krystal Cascetta's husband '100% did not do this'
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Dr Krystal Cascetta, a well-known New York City oncologist, killed her 4-month-old daughter and then committed suicide, as per investigators. According to reports, the fatal shootings occurred on August 5 at around 7 am in Cascetta's Somers residence.
Despite speculations circulating on social media, Cascetta's husband was absolutely not involved in the incident, a New York State Trooper said on Tuesday, August 8, as per Daily Mail.
Why is Tim Talty being attacked online?
According to NY State Trooper Steven Nevel, rumors regarding the husband's alleged involvement began to circulate after police got an anonymous call about the shooting.
The officer emphasized that Tim Talty, a 37-year-old businessman with his own protein bar firm, was not at the couple's $1 million Somers home on August 5 when the gunshots occurred.
'He did not do this'
Nevel quashed the rumors about Talty's connection to the deaths. He told Today.com, "The trolls on social media are dragging the husband through the mud. But I can tell you 100% unequivocally, without a doubt, that he did not do this."
"It's really easy for people to come up with conspiracy theories. He's been nothing but cooperative. The family has been beyond cooperative," Nevel added.
Nevel also said there were no recent developments in the case and did not clarify whether postpartum depression was a factor in the murder-suicide. Autopsies of Cascetta and her child were done on August 6, he announced.
'Very private' family
According to Cascetta's neighbors, at least twice before the incident, police and paramedics had already been dispatched to the $1 million house of the "very private" family.
Bob Stuart, 71, who lived close to the couple's property, told the New York Post, "They had ambulances and police come to their house two, maybe three times this summer. At least twice."
Betsy, Stuart's wife, noted that the family was "very private people, kept to themselves," to the extent that they did not hear from them in almost two years. The Stuarts also added that they were unaware of the doctor's pregnancy.
Friends and former clients of the New York City oncologist are rallying behind her, but no rationale for the murder-suicide has yet been given. Dr Cascetta was a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist who specialized in breast cancer at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
The hospital issued a statement about the deceased doctor the same evening of the tragedy, saying, "The Mount Sinai community is greatly saddened by the tragic loss of a Mount Sinai Health System doctor and her child. We extend our deepest sympathies to Dr Cascetta's family, friends, colleagues, and patients," as per ABC 7.
