POTOMAC, MARYLAND: In a fateful encounter in around 2002, 'RHOP' star Monique and Chris Samuels' paths intertwined when he, aspiring to launch a music label, crossed paths with 'Love & Marriage: DC' star. The connection between them was immediate and Chris reportedly started to flirt from the get-go.

Despite their initial encounter, they maintained friendly contact for the next three years, but their relationship took a turn for the better when Monique ended things with her ex to be with Chris. This marked the beginning of their 10-year marriage. However, the beautiful love story is now coming to an end as the couple has filed for divorce. Why did 'RHOP' star Monique Samuels file for divorce? 

In a surprising turn of events, Monique and Chris, who had been married for over a decade, officially decided to end their relationship. In October 2022, People reported that the pair is splitting but the two later denied it in a YouTube video. It was only on June 20, 2023, that Monique took the legal step to file for divorce. While she has requested the sealing of the documents, public records reveal that Monique initially filed a complaint for absolute divorce on April 14, followed by an amended complaint on June 15.

Before filing for divorce, the couple stated in the YouTube video that they decided to spend some time apart. This decision stemmed from their desire to set a better example for their three children, Chase, Milani, and Christopher. Monique explained that they realized their connection had faded, and they didn't want their children to grow up thinking their relationship was the norm for love and marriage. According to Entertainment Tonight Monique made a statement that marks the end of their relationship as she said, "We needed a change that would work for us...
