LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Among the few couples in Hollywood who have stood the test of time and grown in their relationship, Goldie Hawn and Kurtsell are notable examples. But both of them have left many fans wondering why they never got married despite sharing such a strong bond. The actress in her recent interview opens up about their decision and what led to it. “Why should we be? Isn’t that a better question?" said Hawn. After an interviewer continued to dig, Hawn stated that both of them have faced the consequences of an unsuccessful marriage.
“When it doesn’t work out, it ends up to be big business,” explained the ‘Overboard’ star. Russell and Hawn have remained together since 1984. The Grammy-Award-winning actress had been married twice before meeting ‘The Hateful Eight’ star. She was previously married to actor Gus Trikonis from 1969 until 1976, and then to musician Bill Hudson from 1976 until 1982.

Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have been together for almost 40 years and their fans want them to tie the knot. However, the actress shares what happens when marriages fail, hinting at the real reason behind opting to stay away from it, “It’s always ugly. Somebody actually has to take a look and say, ‘How many divorces actually are fun? How many divorces actually don’t cost money? How many divorces actually make you hate the person more than you did before? How many divorces have hurt children?’”
Chris Wallace of CNN then commented “You’re not going to get divorced,” citing the duo had been together for 40 years. “How did you know that then? I like the idea that I can wake up in the morning and make decisions every day if I want to be here,” responded Hawn.
'Independent thinking is important'
The 77-year-old star further continued, “I mean relationships are hard. They’re not always easy. There are all kinds of hurdles we go through. There are things that we believe in, things we don’t believe in, we agree on.” Hawn reflected on the importance of keeping a free mind, “So I think ultimately staying independent with independent thinking is important, so you can hold on to yourself, and you can actually have that feeling.”
Hawn and Russell have a son Wyatt Russell together, who was born in 1986. ‘The First Wives Club’ actress is also the mother to Kate Hudson, and Oliver Hudson, and both of them call Russell ‘pa.’ Meanwhile, Russell was briefly married to Season Hubley from 1979 to 1983, and they share a son, Boston.
