Russo brothers REVEAL why Avengers: Endgame's 4-hour director's cut will never be released
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has helped us shape our wildest dreams into realities with bringing the most promising fictional and sci-fi stories to reality. The Russo brothers did an amazing job with the direction of 'Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame'.
However, Endgame Directors Anthony & Joe Russo feel like the extra 40 minutes didn’t deserve to be in the film and so it would only make sense to chop it off. Joe and Anthony Russo joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2014 and eventually ended up directing an all-time hit 'Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame'. The movie remains one of the best MCU movies ever, and even though it has been three years since its release. Through the Avengers time-heist, the film also revisited several key moments from past MCU movies.

Recently, the Russo brothers gave an interview appearing on WIRED's Autocomplete and when asked if there was a 6-hour cut of the film, Joe said, "I think the longest we’ve ever had it was like 3 hours and 40 minutes, If we did a supercut of Infinity War and Endgame, there’d probably be. Could probably be between the two. It could be a six-hour cut." Anthony says a "super cut of Infinity War and Endgame" would probably run for 6 hours, however Joe reveals the longest cut of Endgame they ever had was 3 hours and 40 minutes.
But the Russo brothers shared why they did not want to add the extra 40 minutes from the editing floor. To date, there has never been a director's cut of an MCU film for one simple reason, they haven't been necessary. Generally, an extended director's cut is released when the original cut is deemed ineffective or incomplete by fans, such as in the case of 'Zack Snyder's Justice League'. 'Endgame', however, is universally beloved by critics, fans, and is the second highest-grossing movie of all time behind only Avatar.

There isn't a valid reason for Marvel to release a director's cut of 'Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame', since the trimmed down 3-hour theatrical version is the Russos' preferred cut. For those wondering what additional footage a hypothetical 4-hour cut might include, a few of Avengers: Endgame's deleted scenes have been released online.
