Legendary country singer Dolly Parton has garnered praises and scatheful branding in equal share, if not more, due to her plastic and breast enhancement surgeries. The ‘Jolene’ star drew flak for her buxom curves and petite figure in the past. She had also been slammed as "trashy” for her looks. However, this has not bothered the 74-year-old songstress whose confidence to look good has only risen with age.

A 2003 story in publication People revealed that Parton had her eyes, lips, and breasts enhanced. She joked that Dr. John Grossman “does all [her] fender work.”In response, her doctor mentioned the changes he did for Parton. “She has a generous bosom, which I augmented some years ago. She’s had her face rejuvenated on a number of occasions, [but] not a full face-lift.” However, the doctor noted back then that Parton was “genetically gifted”. He said, “Her skin is beautiful. In the South, getting a tan was a sign that you had to work in the fields, so she never went in the sun. She’s pretty, but even pretty people age.”

After the breast enhancement surgery, Parton faced some health ailments in 2004 due to the heavyweight of her bosom. This made her go under the knife again, this time for breast reduction. As per reports, the doctors told the ‘Steel Magnolias’ star that her enormous double-D bust would have to be reduced to give her some respite from the crippling pressure on her back and shoulders.

“My boobs are killing me — and I don't know if I can stand the pain any longer," Dolly said about her troubles due to heavy breasts. "My boobs have been a trademark for me — but I've paid one hell of a price." Then, in 2011, she revealed in an interview with Grilletta Brewburg, a former reporter for country music publication, Yippee-Ki-Yay, that she had gone under the knife for the second time to reduce one of them further.

Did you know she has named her ample bosom the Virginia twins? As per Express.co.uk, as she calls them “West Virginia and East Virginia”, and the same feature says one of her friends noticed "that West Virginia was a little bit bigger than the other, prompting her to go through surgery once more."

With such repeated attempts to change the physical image, it is worth noting what made Dolly Parton go for such transformative surgeries, especially for breasts.

There’s no woman on earth who does not like to be admired for her looks. This thought inspired Dolly Parton too who wished to look more beautiful than her natural persona. “I always wanted to be pretty, and I always wanted to be a star, whatever that meant. I wanted to shine; so I created my own look to build my confidence because very few people are born beautiful, with natural beauty, and I certainly am not one”, the singer said in a 2018 interview with The Star.

Then she went on about how she hid her physical shortcomings by using artificial means. “I am too short, I never had great hair. I used to bleach my hair so much, it would tear to pieces, so I thought, well I will just start wearing wigs. And I thought, if I am too short, I will wear high heels and if my hands are too small, I’ll wear long nails. I try to make positives out of negatives. I did whatever I needed to build my confidence, and when people don’t believe I had plastic surgery, I say “Yeah, I don’t look old but I have aged my plastic surgeons. But I do it because it makes me feel better about myself. I always say I am a workhorse that looks like a show horse. So yeah, I work every day to build my confidence,” the singer said.

She said she adored her enhanced breasts which she got “pumped up”. “I always say I don’t know if I’m supporting them or they’re supporting me. I just embrace it; it’s part of who I am, and it’s part of my persona, and it’s part of the Dolly look. How I feel inside is more important.” Parton sassily mentioned about the work she had over her breasts over the years as we reported earlier. She said, "It costs a lot of money to look this cheap!" and added, "If I see something saggin', baggin', or draggin', I'm gonna have it nipped, tucked, or sucked!"

Besides breasts, Parton also had many surgeries in her twenties and her thirties around her face. That includes silicone implants, a brow lift, a facelift, eyelid surgery, chin augmentation, and rhinoplasty (nose job) as reported by Express
