LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Tory Lanez, who was found guilty of shooting fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion, has been served! Judge David Herriford who was hearing the case was going to deliver the verdict on Monday, August 7, but he had both attorneys put their case in front and argue on each factor of his potential sentence.

The witnesses were allowed to give statements on Lanez's charitable contributions, his childhood trauma, and being a father to his six-year-old son, reports NBC News.

Why did the Judge overlook 70 'supporting letters' for Tory Lanez?

Tory Lanez is set to serve a 10-year sentence in a shooting incident involving Megan Thee Stallion. On December 23, 2022, after a nine-day trial, the unanimous verdict was handed down by a jury in Los Angeles Superior Court, convicting the 31-year-old rapper of assaulting 28-year-old Megan (real name Megan Pete) ‘with a semi-automatic firearm, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.’

"The jury got it right. I am thankful there is justice for Meg," said Megan’s lawyer Alex Spiro in 2022.

The incident took place in August 2020 after the duo partied in Los Angeles. After that, weeks later the rapper publicly said on Instagram that Lanez was the shooter. “Yes ... Tory shot me. It’s not that I was protecting anybody. I just wasn’t ready to speak.” “I couldn’t walk for a while,” she testified.

“I still have nerve damage. I can’t really feel the side of my left foot. The back of my feet are always sore, but I just push through it," she added. Megan even took a shot at Lanez in a song, ‘Shots Fired.’

'Transformative, not life-destroying'

According to the prosecutors, as Megan began walking away, she heard Lanez shout, "Dance, bitch!" and started shooting a 9mm pistol at her feet, hitting her and she fell on the ground and managed to crawl to a safer spot.

Furthermore, County Assistant District Attorney Alexander Bott gave a statement in court that her ex-friend Harris lost it when Lanez approached the two women after he fired five shots at Megan while she "lay bleeding in a random driveway." Megan was later hospitalized and underwent surgery, reports People.

Lanez's attorney submitted 70 letters of support, including a note from ‘Bounce’ rapper Iggy Azalea, “[It should be] transformative, not life-destroying.”

She also wrote on Twitter, "I am not in support of throwing away anyone's life if we can give reasonable punishments that are rehabilitative instead. I support prison reform. Period."
