Why did Mark Cuban pass up on $200K deal with Ride FRSH? 'Shark Tank' fans find his obsession with Mavs petty
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It looks like Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is still not over Golden State Warriors crushing his team's NBA Championship dreams. Ride FRSH founders Trey and Donovan Brown stepped into the tank seeking a $200K investment in exchange for a 5% stake in their car air freshener brand. The duo was barely done with their pitch when Mark declared that he was out without even listening to the entrepreneurs' whole pitch. If you're wondering what triggered the billionaire Shark, then you can blame it on his obsession with Mavs.
The Ride FRSH founders wanted to showcase their wide product range including their NBA-themed collection of air fresheners. But right before handing out the samples tot he Sharks, the duo joked about how the Warriors variant smelt like victory, but quickly apologized to Mark for their playful jab. Though Mark wasn't pleased about their snub, when he decided to try out the variants and realized that there was no Mavs variant and he was instead presented with the Warriors one, the Shark was left fuming. In a moment of rage, Mark declared that he was out and chided the Ride FRSH founders for not "reading the room" declaring it was "wrong time and wrong place". As Trey and Donovan watched Mark in shock, his fellow Sharks tried persuading the billionaire Shark to get back onto the deal and at least give the duo a chance. But the Shark was insistent about having nothing to do with Ride FRSH. Thankfully, Barbara Corcoran had no such biases and eventually offered the entrepreneurs an offer of $200K for 20% equity in their brand. The deal was finally closed at $200K for a 15% equity. Though the Ride FRSH founders left 'Shark Tank' with a deal, the ABC show's fans were mad at Mark for his "childish" behavior.
