LAGRANGE COUNTY, INDIANA: 'The Golden Bachelor' star Gerry Turner has recently filed for a divorce soon after he and his wife Theresa Nist announced their split. The now ex-couple met on the ABC show and soon fell in love. Gerry and Theresa got engaged and then exchanged vows on national television on January 5.

However, the ABC duo's marriage didn't last longer and they cited long distance as their divorce reason. Despite their previous claims that they were '100% committed to making it work', the former married couple claimed the distance proved a problem. Gerry and Theresa announced their mutual decision during their latest joint interview with 'Good Morning America'.

The 'Golden Bachelor' ex-couple announced, "Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations, and we've looked closely at our situation, our living situation and so forth, and we've kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it's probably time for us to dissolve our marriage."

During the interview, the former couple insisted that they did not fall out of love and insisted that the realities of being in the public eye and reports about Gerry's past dating reports had nothing to do with their split. Gerry and Theresa claimed that they are "best friends" and plan on staying in one another's lives.

ABC show stars Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist claimed to be still in love with each other. Gerry claimed, 'I still love this person. There's no doubt in my mind, I still am in love with her. I root for her every day." Theresa had similar feelings and admitted, "I still love him." Theresa later admitted she would be giving back the wedding ring, which she was wearing at the time of the interview.

However, Gerry chimed in and said, "But you know what, we don't have to give back the memories." As for finding love again, Gerry and Theresa would not give up on love and continue to look for their soulmate. Gerry and Theresa shared in the interview that they had planned on going on that journey. Theresa admitted, "And we tell everybody else to continue to look for love."

'The Golden Bachelor' star Gerry Turner lives in his lake house in Indiana, meanwhile, his ex-wife, Theresa Nist, resides in New Jersey. The duo was maintaining their long-distance relationship until it split them apart. Gerry and Theresa visited each other's hometown after their wedding to enjoy date nights but things eventually didn't work out.

The ABC show's ex-couple also had planned to move in together. Theresa revealed that Gerry considered moving in with her in New Jersey and both even looked for homes in South Carolina. She shared, "We looked at home after home, but we never got to the point where we made that decision."

However, Gerry explained, "The thing that strikes me the most in our conversations, has been how dedicated both of us are to our families." He added, "So we look at these conversations and we both think the happiness of each of us should live apart."

Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist ditched their planned honeymoon

Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist sadly had to ditch their Italian honeymoon as they split just three months after getting married. The couple planned their Italian gateway for May 2024 but would not go amid their split. Theresa was previously excited about their upcoming trip and shared their plans with her followers.

The ABC show star took to her Instagram and wrote, "Having so much fun planning and dreaming about our honeymoon in May to Italy... flying into Rome, spending a few days in Tuscany and then heading down to Sorrento and the Amalfi coast." Theresa further revealed that she had been to Italy twice "once when I was 18, and again to visit my daughter when she studied abroad there. I can’t wait to experience it with Gerry!"
