Who are Yara and Betin Cardenas? Meet ‘100 Day Dream Home' couple who finally set up house after 4 long years
There's a reason '100 Day Dream Home' is loved by fans — while Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt's energy is absolutely infectious (seriously, name a cuter TV couple, we'll wait) what's heart-warming to see is the stories of the families that they help along the way. Many a time, these are people who've waited a while to build their dream home and when it's finally time, they rightfully enlist the help of experts such as the Kleinschmidt's. This week was no different. We saw an absolutely lovely and hardworking couple who were ready to make their dream home a reality.
As per the episode summary: "A couple bought their dream property years ago but are living with his mother due to financial setbacks. The family is ready to build a home of their own, but Brian and Mika must find a way to combine her understated style with his over-the-top taste."
Enter Yara and Betin Cardenas, the couple who has been through thick and thin together. They have three children — two girls and one boy — and all five of them live with Betin's mother due to financial issues. Six people under one roof can get pretty cramped, seeing that their current living arrangement only has one bathroom. The Cardenas have been planning their dream home for quite a while now, so it's amazing to see the Kleinschmidt's breathe life into it. Wondering just who the Cardenas are? We've got the scoop.
The couple purchased the plot 4 years ago
It's been four years since The Cardenas purchased the plot. They paid $27,000 for the land at the time. In terms of their budget for the build, they set aside $335,000. As per usual, the Kleinschmidt's split this budget up — with $300,000 allotted towards building the entire house and $35,000 for landscaping, furnishing and the special projects. Seeing that Yara is a business owner, the Kleinschmidt's created a dedicated makeup studio for her to cater to her clientele, which cost $7,500. This, however, was part of the special project. The entire home cost the family $362,000.
They both are big on fitness
From the episode, it's clearly visible that the couple truly believes in working together. We see them disagree about personal tastes, but they're quick to resolve it and compromise. The two of them are pretty in sync and by the look of their Instagram, they enjoy spending time together, especially when it comes to working out. The couple is big on fitness and it shows — they definitely don't look like the parents of preteens/teenagers.
Yara is a certified makeup artist
Yara is quite passionate about her work as she's a certified makeup artist. With her own clientele and a growing business, having a space of her own was essential. Luckily, the Kleinschmidt's pulled through and gave her a home studio to work out of. Cardenas is quite talented too. Her makeup looks reflect her aesthetic — stunning, well-thought-out looks.
