Who were Alan Arkin's wives? Actor adopted Suzanne Newlander's surname for his character in 'The Kominsky Method'

CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA: After a dazzling six-decade career on stage and screen, Oscar-winning actor Alan Arkin has died at the age of 89. The 'Little Miss Sunshine' stars sons Adam, Matthew, and Anthony confirmed their father's death at home in Carlsbad, California.

''Our father was a uniquely talented force of nature, both as an artist and a man. A loving husband, father, grand and great grandfather, he was adored and will be deeply missed,'' they shared with People. Apart from the scores of awards he received in his lifetime, recently, Arkin was awarded two Emmy nominations for his role in 'The Kominsky Method'.

Who are Alan Arkin's wives?

Born in Brooklyn in 1934, the Academy Award and Tony Award-winning actor married three times. He moved to Los Angeles when he was 11 after his father found work in Los Angles as a set designer. Soon after finishing college, Arkin sang and played guitar with a folk group called 'Tarriers' for a brief period. The group produced a hit called  'The Banana Boat Song' in 1957. By 1960 after quitting the band, Arkin arrived in Chicago to start his acting career beginning with 'Second City'. In 1961, Arkin debuted on 'Broadway'. Following his 'Broadway' debut, Arkin went on to star in several television and motion picture roles. In 1967, for his part in the comedy 'The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming', he won his first of four career Oscar nods.

Since then the actor went on to star in over a hundred movies and won scores of awards. He got his second Oscar nomination for 'The Heart is a Lonely Hunter' in 1968. Arkin was also nominated for six Emmy Awards. In the Netflix comedy series, he starred opposite Micheal Douglas playing Norman Newlander, a Hollywood agent. 

The 'Catch-22' actor is currently lived by his wife Suzanne Newlander, whom he married in 1996. Prior to that, he got married to Jeremy Yaffe, his first wife, and Anthony Barbara Dana Arkin. Arkin is also survived by three sons, Adam Arkin, and Matthew Arkin, whom he shared with his first wife Jeremy Yaffe, and Anthony Dana Arkin who he shared with his second wife, Barbara Dana Arkin. Newlander is a psychotherapist. 

Arkin starred alongside his second wife for thirty years in three movies 

Arkin and Dana got married in 1955 and the pair remained together for six years and parted ways in 1961. Later on June 1964, Arkin married his second wife Barbara Dana. The couple welcomed the actor's third child in 1967. The pair went together for thirty years before spitting in 1994. Dana appeared alongside Arkin in three movies: 'Inspector Clouseau', 'FIre Sale', and 'The In-Laws' as per the Sun. His son Adam Arkin, 66, is a known actor and director who has starred in TV hits including 'Chicago Hope', '8 Simple Rules' and, 'Sons of Anarchy.'
