LIBERTY COUNTY, TEXAS: Sheryl Siddall, who disappeared since September 18, was first reported missing by her niece.

She was last seen at her Horseshoe Lake Estates home in north Liberty County, northeast of Houston.

Who is Donald Lee Hassler?

Authorities have arrested a man named Donald Lee Hassler for his alleged involvement in her disappearance and is suspected of murder.

The Texas man was on parole and answered the door of the home of a missing grandmother last month while police were investigating the case.

As per Hassler, the old woman was visiting her sister’s house in Oklahoma and he was allegedly buying her house.

During the welfare check, police found blood stains in the kitchen and on the cabinets. Her belongings were at her home, but even after an extensive search, the police couldn’t find her.

“We still want to find Siddall and we will not give up until we do!” said Liberty County Sheriff’s Captain David Meyers.

“We want to help bring some sort of closure to her family. They are already in talks of having a memorial service for her soon," Meyers added.

Why was Donald Lee Hassler arrested before?

According to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, “Hassler, an acquaintance of Siddall, was at the home when the deputies arrived and he has remained as the prime suspect in her disappearance.”

“He was initially booked in the Liberty County Jail on a charge of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, a violation of his parole. A total of eight firearms were collected during the investigation, including some found inside a box trailer belonging to Hassler and inside his pickup truck," the office added.

A fundraising page was set up to help pay the lawyer in the civil case and for Sherlyl’s funeral, reports Law and Crime.

“We want to lift some of the burden from her family as they fight to win back what’s rightfully hers, assist in any monetary needs that may come up in regards to the case, and replace some wages for her children that have taken off work to search for their mom and continue to mourn and grieve a parent gone too soon,” her GoFundMe page read.

Interestingly, during the investigation, her family told the police that she had no sister in Oklahoma.

Moreover, they filed a petition in the court against Hassler, asking the judiciary to cancel a deed on which they allege he forged Siddal’s signature on June 30, which allowed him general power of attorney.
