SPOKANE, WASHINGTON: Sativa Transue tragically died after she went on a holiday trip to Cancún, Mexico. Her boyfriend has now been taken into custody in connection with her death. Washington native, Sativa, 26, was found dead during a Thanksgiving vacation in November 2021.

Transue reportedly graduated from Eastern Washington University with a degree in Exercise Science in 2017. She later accepted a job at the school, where she worked until she died. The manner of Transue's death echoes the case of Gabby Petito and her boyfriend Brian Laundrie. Petito's disappearance and death this year had captivated the world which ended in a confusing manner as her boyfriend who was a person of interest in her death was found dead.

At the time of her death, authorities received a call about a domestic violence incident. They arrived at the hotel to find Transue dead in her room. Investigators determined that Transue was beaten to death, but a specific cause of her death has not yet been revealed. Transue’s mother Jayme Bolieu said her daughter looked like she had been “beaten to a bloody pulp” when authorities found her body. Days later, her boyfriend, 31-year-old Taylor Allen was taken into custody. Allen beat her after threatening to jump off the four-story hotel balcony. The day before her death, Transue reportedly messaged her friends in Washington around 1 pm, claiming Allen had consumed "seven shots and two Pina Coladas."

Witnesses said that Transue and Allen had gotten into a drunken altercation inside the All Ritmo Resort in Mexico on November 27. Authorities arrested him after he returned home to Spokane, Washington and charged him with femicide. The case is under investigation at present.

"My sister was the happiest person I knew. She wouldn't want anyone to be sad. She'd want us to celebrate her together," Transue's sister Mykayla Bolieu wrote on social media. "I also want to say: please if you’re in an abusive relationship, tell someone. Speak up. Don’t be embarrassed because you have absolutely no reason to be. Whether it be physically, mentally, emotionally or verbally. Abuse is abuse. They won’t change, and it won’t get better. Please please please do not wait until it is too late. There’s so many resources out there for victims of domestic abuse, so if housing or finances are holding you back please do research on the people who can help. You can get out! And there is absolutely no shame in needing help. I hope Sativa’s story can encourage others to get out while they can."

Transue's mom  told The Daily Star how shattered she was to hear of the tragic death of her daughter. "How could my beautiful healthy daughter be gone? In another country? It took my breath away. A part of me died. She was my baby. I had her at 16. We grew up together. She was my life, my reason for living, my best friend.”

Her mom also shed light on the relationship between the duo saying: “She was enjoying the sunshine and her trip was going okay, but not the best, because they [Sativa and her boyfriend] were fighting." As mentioned Allen had threatened to jump off the hotel balcony and Jayme revealed that Transue was also injured and had to get stitches. She also mentioned that she was woken up by frantic texts from Transue's friends who had received her messages the previous night.

In a separate post, Mykala Bolieu wrote, "These will never get easier. But Sativa absolutely would’ve wanted her story out there, even if it just helps save one girl. I will never stop being her voice. Taylor Allen has been charged with Femicide and is now in Mexican prison awaiting a hearing for his sentence. His lawyer is having my sister’s body and belongings held for 3 more days. We can’t even bring my sister home to give her peace. I will never understand why this happened to my sister, but I’m beyond amazed at the outpour of love we’ve received for her. And I’m glad we’re on track to getting my sister the justice she deserves."
