WINDSOR LOCKS, CONNECTICUT: A divorce lawyer shot and killed his wife who was infected with Covid-19 in a murder-suicide on Christmas Day.

Divorce lawyer John Liquori's motives behind the crime are currently unknown, but it is said that coronavirus was a factor that led to the tragic incident. Cindy Liquori, 55, had tested positive for the virus and her husband, who is a well-known attorney in Connecticut, was possibly infected with the same, Windsor Locks, Detective Sgt Jeff Lampson shared with the Hartford Courant.

Cindy was at her mother Claire Palmer's home at the time of the incident, as per authorities. Palmer was at the hospital where she was getting treated for Covid-19. A state police source told the publication that Cindy was asleep at the home, which is located on Dale Street, when she was fatally shot. After shooting his wife, 59-year-old John shot himself and was killed on the spot, the insider added. The lawyer had called up his wife's brother on Friday evening, December 25, and told him to come over and take Palmer's dogs which Cindy had been looking after, Sgt Lampson revealed.

The detective added that John had then contacted the brother not too long after the first conversation and "the conversation they had raised serious concerns", the detective added. The brother had arrived at Palmer's home around 6 pm and found both Cindy and John dead, along with a revolver. There was no evidence to show that the couple was estranged. The couple's autopsies have been administered but the medical examiner has not revealed any details yet.

John was practicing law from his office in Suffield and had earlier worked as a family court attorney for more than three decades. His lawyer friend, David Kelly, shared with the Hartford Courant that he had been someone "who understood the law and how to practice it". Kelly further added, "Divorce work is a brutal business under the best of circumstances." He also shared that the couple were wonderful people and that their deaths had come as a huge shock to all those who knew them.

While John was a lawyer, Cindy had been the owner of Cindy's Soap Cottage located in East Windsor. She would make products such as handmade artisan soaps, CBD topicals, and tinctures, bath bombs, body luxuries and candles, among many other products. Recently, she had expanded her business and had started to produce hand sanitizers and face masks in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

She had earlier spoken to the Windsor Locks Patch and said, "The last eight months have been very busy and stressful. When the pandemic started, I wanted to ensure that my store was essential, so I hired about 15 people to make masks. To date, we have sold over 16,000 handmade local quality masks, which I’m very proud of. We worked our tails off to get them out quickly at a great price. We also sold over 8,000 bottles of hand sanitizer."

The couple shared one child.
