Who was Jasmin Probst? DJ sunk to bottom of lake with 40kg weight around body identified by her tattoos
Latest reports emerge identifying the lifeless body found in Lake Thun, Switzerland, earlier this month. 31-year-old Jasmin Probst's body was allegedly thrown in the water with 88.2 pounds (40-kilogram) weights around her body. Earlier this month, authorities found a lifeless body in Lake Thun in Switzerland without any identification. The only identification marks on her body were tattoos on her back of an owl and the name of a Singaporean DJ, Gayle San. Only after an online campaign, was the victim's identity revealed.
It was reported that Probst was pushed into the lake with the weight around her ensuring that she sinks to the bottom. When her lifeless body was discovered, Swiss police launched a probe into Probst's death but were unable to identify her, according to reports. They even released a photo of the jewelry on her body at the time of death and announced that she was wearing white sneakers, black sweatpants and a dark t-shirt. But they heavily relied on the tattoos on Probst's body to advance further.
When Gayle, who is reportedly quite an influential figure in the London dance scene since the 1990s, got to know of this, she launched an online campaign on social media sites to help identify Probst's then-unknown body, eventually leading law and authorities to Probst.
Gayle had taken to Instagram to share an earnest message seeking information about Probst. "Since yesterday, I ve been getting messages with this news link of this terrible and sad news article in Switzerland. From what I ve heard , they are still trying to identify the woman , with my name tattoed on her back . I wish I could help the Swiss police and journalist who contacted me , but I don’t know anyone or fans who has this tattoo," she wrote, adding, "I can’t recall seeing a fan with this tattoo in the clubs over the years either. Nevertheless, it’s still very shocking to read about the news. I hope they will be able to identify the woman soon and solve the case, and I m sending my deepest condolences to her family and friends."
Who was Jasmine Probst?
According to the latest reports, Jasmine's friends and acquaintances described her as a "kind and open-minded young woman who enjoyed life". She is also said to be a dedicated artist who "put maximum creativity into her music". Her career was said to be on the rise and she was reportedly a major part of the Swiss dance scene. The police also said Jasmine was a DJ. Answering Gayle San's question about anyone having her name tattooed on a fan, police believe Probst probably decided to ink herself because of the influence the Singaporean artist had on her career.
Musician and close friend DJ Denny Sutton recalled the hardships Jasmine Probst went through in life, from her childhood full of moving between orphanages and her adulthood. At the same time, the coronavirus outbreak in the tourist hotspot and the consecutive lockdowns seemed to have hampered her financially. Reports allege that Probst was struggling with money, and was reportedly affected by the local music scene being closed down due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
