PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA: Diana Ramos has been identified as the woman discovered dead with a sock in her mouth in a Philadelphia hotel room on Monday, September 25, according to a statement released on Thursday, September 28.

According to reports, Ramos, 66, an American Airlines flight attendant, was discovered by housekeepers on Monday night at a Marriott hotel near the Philadelphia airport.

Investigators revealed that Ramos was meant to leave the motel two days before she was found dead, reports Action News.

Ramos had worked for American Airlines for 25 years and, according to the airline, died while waiting to board a flight from Philadelphia after working on a flight from Los Angeles.

Law officials remained silent on whether or not the sock was deep enough to prevent her from breathing, as well as why it took two days for her death to be found.

The results of the autopsy are still awaited.

Authorities viewed the death as "suspicious" from the start, and it was being investigated as a possible homicide, the Philadelphia Police Department told People.

According to a source who works as a flight attendant for American Airlines, "Everybody is still trying to figure out what happened and why her crew just left her," adding that they discovered the woman's crew was stationed in Los Angeles.

The employees of American Airlines "are devastated by this news," according to a statement from a spokeswoman.

They added, "Our thoughts are with the family and colleagues, and we’re doing everything we can to ensure all affected have the support they need during this difficult time."

Cleaning employees from the hotel discovered Ramos unconscious on Monday night. She was declared dead by the medics who regrettably arrived at the site at around 10.40 pm.

According to law enforcement authorities, there were no obvious signs of a struggle or forced entry, and no weapons were found inside the hotel room.

However, sources told ABC News that sealed prescription bottles were found inside the room, suggesting the presence of medicines.

She was taking "several medications," per the investigators, but the specifics of these medications were not made public.

A specific cause of death is still not known. In an interview with NBC10, Chief Inspector Scott Small stated that the Las Vegas-born woman had "suffered a sudden death."

Her death is being actively investigated by the Homicide Detectives Division of the Philadelphia Police Department due to the circumstances, and the case is being handled as "suspicious."

Another American Airlines flight attendant collapsed

An earlier flight attendant for American Airlines, Carol Wright, passed out in front of her frightened coworkers on a journey from Venice to Philadelphia.

Wright, a flight attendant and purser for American Airlines for 38 years collapsed during a journey from Venice to Philadelphia, prompting fellow passengers to rush to her rescue, per Mirror.

On June 21, the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner's pilot declared a medical emergency and diverted the aircraft to Dublin. When the plane touched down, emergency services were there to meet it.

After the flight touched down at the airport, firefighters and paramedics were there to assist with it. Wright was rushed there, but regrettably, she was later declared dead.
